Kudos to the BBC South team for last night's South Today from Merville. Very sensitively done, with some cracking camera work and good editing. Even the junctions were done brilliantly, with a specially-voiced ident at 1900, giving a dignified pause between network and the programme itself. Fades to black, and the absence of any BBC News drum-and-bass gave the prog gravitas. No other news covered, which was appropriate for an occasion like this. The regional weather was a standalone segment AFTER the close of the programme.
BBC South are opting out this afternoon for another D-Day programme... hope it's of the same calibre.
I have been wondering recently about the weather presenters. BBC South West presenters, Holly Green, Dan Downs, Emily Wood give the forecast for South Today on weekends. Does any of the BBC South weather presenters do weather for Spotlight frequently?

The Plymouth weather hub provides off-peak forecasts for South Today.
