To be honest, I'm surprised the Morning News still exists. With all the cutbacks that have been made at ITV/ITN, I was sure it would have been axed at some point. There's plenty of news available at that time of day - Sky News and BBC News both have dedicated channels and BBC Breakfast and GMTV are just half an hour away. I really did think once the ITV News Channel was axed, Morning News would follow suit. I'm amazed it's still hanging on in 2009. Ironically, it's the only bulletin to have received practically no tweaking - it's been in that timeslot for decades!

Good point actually. This does seem like the sort of thing that ITV would have campaigned vigorously against and Ofcom will have inevitably agreed to lose! But I don't remember ever reading any such grievance from ITV. Maybe it genuinly does well in its time slot.

I shouldn't think that it does that well - not that many people can realistically be watching tv at that time!!
But, I suppose they someone there for breaking news - It isn't as though they need it for their quota as I'm sure they over exceed it anyway - don't they cut it back to 5 minutes for a few months a year??

Only round Christmas, I think.

I knew it was somethink like that.

That's my postings for tonight - hope to see you from 5:30 in the new thread to discuss the if we like the new look - I think we might as well get it with over now - "We're all so disappointed" Very Happy

The virtual set has been great for graphical displays but I do prefer a real set and I think the newsreaders prefer it as well.
