Reeta Chakrabarti, who has just presented briefly on the Ten O'Clock News, now covering the News Channel. I doubt whether she would have been originally due to present the evening's schedule tonight, but due to the Grenfell Tower disaster is now presenting the last part of the day. No evening presenter as such has been required since Christian Fraser (from 100 Days+ which did not air) and Ros Atkins have covered earlier.

Or maybe Reeta was originally down to be 'evening presenter' but got pulled into the Ten with Huw remaining as main presenter.

And Ben Brown was in the studio for the Six, who is also doing the evening shift on the NC.

Kasia Madeira presenting the evening shift on the NC tonight, for the first time in a few years.

We have two major pieces of breaking news happening (one of which has appeared in the ticker) but the News Channel is still on the stupid 100 Days+ programme.

Why is this in the presenters thread?

Arrow Am I right in saying Jane Hill has now left the afternoon shift with her roles now being the Film Review, Dateline London, on location presenting and covering the News at One/Five? Its been weeks since she last did a NC shift from the studio.
Arrow If that's the case, it seems rather than afternoons going single headed, various presenters such as Anita/Reeta/Rachel/Rebecca etc are taking it turns weekly to present with Simon in the afternoons, similar to the weekends where rather than directly replacing Gavin and Maxine, a whole range of different faces are being used.

Is the double afternoon headed presentation set to stay ? I remember hearing around the same time about their being presenter cuts were announced that going solo anchor in the 2-5 slot could be another change but was unsure if this was speculation or actually confirmed,

I think with the range of significant stories over the past few months the benefit of having two Presenters to keep abreast on developments with one out n location if needed presents a compelling argument whilst the double headed presentation should be maintained

A few problems with the Ten O'Clock News tonight. The breaking news sting kept wanting to appear - BBC One left within seconds, after an awkward pan around Huw Edwards, and went to a list of programmes. The News Channel was left with repeated occasions of the "Breaking News" caption, and urgent sound effect for it, with a random image of a different story after each one, and then long images of Huw at the desk remaining silent. BBC One eventually returned at 10.04, with Huw now starting the programme. Seems like there are still a few problems as the breaking news sting was still appearing between each of the headlines, complete with its two-tone urgency. Then the camera pan of the Newsroom failed, instead a static shot and then a slight moving down. The camera moves in the studio also failed, eventually switching to the one with Huw standing up at the news screen, but the camera slightly out from the usual position. Huw appeared to ignore everything until an apology at the opening at this point.
