Notice Ellie Crisell has now moved over to South East Today. Is the London opt of the 8pm bulletin usually Riz Lateef, or a mix?

Yes, it now seems that Ellie has left her role on the 90 second update since only just returning from maternity leave. She's now a presenter/reporter for South East Today as Rebecca Williams replacement.


The London opt is done separate to the national section. Normally Ellie does 60 seconds on one side of Studio A and then cuts to a camera shot of Riz at the other side of A once all other opts have opted out.


Ellie has replaced Ceri Perkins at SET.

I think last Friday, Chris Rogers did The World Today on BBCWN. I don't think he has done TWT before, has he? Indeed, it doesn't hurt to have a seasoned presenter conducting the paper reviews.

From what I gather, the plan is for the BBC London presenter to do the 8pm bulletin on Mondays and Tuesdays (both national and London). On Weds, Thurs & Fri a rota of network presenters will fill the gap.

If there isn't a network person available for whatever reason then BBC London will fill that gap

Why can't Huw Edwards do it? I appreciate sometimes he's on location - but when he's on shift in NBH? It's two hours before the Ten and it only takes 90 seconds. It can't be that much of a task to carry out.

I think that was the original thing they were trying to avoid. The 8pm bulletin was designed to reach people who switch over when they see what they think of as normal News, so having a major name news presenter front it may be counterproductive (no disrespect to Huw).
