Does any one think the local news is getting worse?

Anglia News has been very boring and it has to much football and sports on.

Well it is the weekend - traditional for sport to be played and Sundays is when they do their extended goals section.

Not if you approach it from the midlands then you end up in London Sad or Essex !

A lot of the itv local newses fill up their time with interminable soccer footage. It's a cheap filler.

Is it really that cheap? Im sure there is quite an appetite for football coverage at the weekend - not just The Premiership but from all leagues.

I rerckon that if the local football matches were NOT covered people would also start complaining?

They also have lots of Football stuff in the week to.

Not just weekends.

Hasn't sport always been considered one of Anglia's strengths?

As with the Tyne Tees approach (long-standing over many years), a varied daily sports roundup is a good way of avoiding too many cat up tree stories.

Football, rugby, the horses -- TTTV has the only regular betting tipster I know of on local news.

Putting in lots of sports coverage is popular, and is completely the right way of keeping a programme interesting.

I can't comment about the interesting part but it is a very effective way to fill 50 or 60 % of a sunday afternoon bulletin.

On Westcountry news theres enough time for two stories to be read out over some relevant pictures. Then there's the sport, a repeat of the local events diary [I}Whats On West[/I] and the weather and thats it, ten minutes filled with one minute of news.

You should see Look North Saturday, one story read over library pictures and then the sport!

Not that it's an issue though, a football round up is on of the main strengths of the Sunday ITV regional news. I can't see how it is cheap either. Sending a cameraman out to cover every league match in your region and then someone editing it all together into a package seems quite labour intensive
