Nazanine Moshiri is now a presenter on AJE from their Doha broadcast centre, she seems very good, especially during the end of the bulletin she had a bit of banter with Sami Zeidan, something not usually seen during the double-headed bulletins.

Also, something to report on is that AJE is getting themselves in a bit of hot water over a exclusive video of American Soldiers saying they are going to give out Bible's in Afghanistan in the local languages. A U.S. Military rule is that soldiers shouldn't try to influence others of their own beliefs. Pretty interesting right now, a U.S. Military spokesman is on-air, along with James Bays, the correspondent of the report.

I caught a bit of this, not sure what you mean by 'getting into hot water', it was a nice little exclusive I thought.

Just seen a report from Turkey by Anita McNaught. I just loved to see her presenting on BBC World years ago, I know that for a while she could be seen fairly often on Fox News but I just can't make myself watch the channel. Very happy to see her now on AJE: Wikipedia says we should expect to see her on a regularly basis on AJ.

AL JAZEERA ARABIC CHANNEL TO HAVE NEW LOOK

DOHA: Al Jazeera Channel yesterday announced it would introduce changes to the look of the Arabic channel, a new programming grid and a series of new programmes and documentaries.

Al Jazeera Channel’s changes to be revealed shortly are being introduced under the banner “Where the Sun Never Sets” to coincide with its 13th Anniversary.

As a commitment to the channel’s growth and success, this announcement follows on the heels of a recent study commissioned to Nielsen by Al Jazeera showing that Al Jazeera’s Arabic channel obtained the highest percentage of viewers of news channels in the Arab world, with 70 percent of the 27,000 respondents choosing Al Jazeera as their favorite news source.

The research also showed the strength of Al Jazeera’s brand ranking in the top 6 percent globally, based on Nielsen’s Brand Equity Index. In the qualitative exploratory portion of the study, the majority of participants agreed that the channel provided the most detailed and comprehensive analysis of current Arab and international affairs. Moreover, Al Jazeera was regarded as a pioneer channel for the quality of programs they provide.

The channel continues to be a pioneer in providing unparalleled news and services to its audiences across the world. Al Jazeera created waves in the Arab world when it first launched in 1996 as the only independent 24 hour news channel in the Arab world.

I quite like the tagline, seems more suited to AlJazeera English though.

They've had their old look for ages, and apart from the ident (I think they've had it since launch) which does look quite dated, it still looks very good

It's a bit 'British Empire' though isn't it?

I think the new look was in 2005. That's when they moved into the spacious newsroom studio anyway - they are currently presenting from a CSO, and have been since September, so I'll be interested to see what has changed in terms of the set.

They are introducing a new morning show, cutting the lunchtime bulletin by an hour, and changing the evening schedule apart from World News which is always a vocal point of the programming.

The TOTH ident has always been connected with Al Jazeera since its launch in 1996, the globe plunging into the waves, representing an 'independent channel' and also Qatar - it is a peninsula, therefore Al Jazeera - which in English translates to "The Island"

'The Peninsula' is primarily a reference to the Arabian Peninsula, but it also works in the context of Qatar.

BBC HD had a very similar ident for a while, as posted here: http://www.tvforum.co.uk/forums/post576520#post576520

I've always thought Al Jazeera adverts are brilliant, this is another example. A clever advert promoting the new look, starting November 1st.

I noticed some of the writing reads '71" Plasma Vertical' and '70" Video Wall' and also the circular design - looks very interesting!

More promo's airing for the new look. It seems like the last image will be the involved in the news titles - as for the first three, they could form part of the ident for the channel.

I love those promos. I don't know about other people, but I love them. So modern.

It looks like the channel will relaunch at 23:00 KSA/20:00 GMT. This was the time Al Jazeera launched in 1996, when the main news bulletin 'Hasad Al Youm' is on air:

Quote:
This Sunday night’s edition of “Hasad Al Youm” (“Harvest of the Day”), Al Jazeera Arabic’s main news programme, will have a new look and color scheme and new theme music. The changes include a newly redesigned studio incorporating a video wall and other state of the art technologies.
