I assume they've been flown over, yes. London only has a few permanent anchors - Felicity Barr, Barbara Serra, and freelancers like Lauren Taylor and Maryam Nemazee.
The studio is in Knightsbridge, in a basement somewhere I think! Although they are moving to floor 16 of The Shard later this year, apparently.

To say it's 'brought them down' is exaggerating somewhat, it's still there on air running what is essentially a normal service.
It's not the first time that there's been problems and not the first time that everything's moved to London. Of course in their original setup there were 3 other centres that could fill in when one had problems!
As for the nature of the problem, I know their production system isn't very common, was always a but problematic and is aging. I suspect there's the added problem that Doha isn't exactly handy for the major equipment manufacturers. Unless they have spares of everything, getting some piece of equipment over there could take a while
What kind of technical problems could effectively bring down a broadcaster as big as Al Jazeera for so long?

What do you mean, 'planned fault'?
No, of course it's not a coincidence.
This must have been some sort of planned fault?

It wouldn't be just a coincidence to have the presenters in London all at the same time.

Aren't most of AJ's other services in the same Doha site? Could it be that the fault doesn't actually affect AJE but because they have London available they decided to decamp AJE and use their facilities to keep something else on air that couldn't be moved so easily?

Unlikely if have thought but I suppose it would be possible if they were in absolute dire need. Though I'd have thought that if AJ Arabic was totally out of action they could just share AJE's facilities without having to chuck them out to London.
From what I hear it is a problem with AJE Doha

Fawzia Ibrahim was presenting from Doha at 10AM UK time. So the problem was resolved overnight I must have thought.
Felicity was presenting only yesterday morning, a quite move for her.
Doha is back! Not sure when, but Felicity Barr was presenting from Doha as of 11 a.m. Pacific time.

After watching AJE for the past few months, i've realised how under rated it actually is. At first, i thought it was a spotlight for Terrorists a silly judgement on my part.
But, they have great coverage of stories that they simply don't cover enough on their rivals, e.g SKY News etc.
The content is very good, and they offer a much different perspective on the stories they cover.
The set looks very nice, although a little dated now, the graphics, theme and overall branding in my opinion is very distinctive and overall a very strong brand.
Also, they seem to have some very capible and talented anchors and presenters, my only criticism would be a few of the sports presenters, with accents that are irritating, but i suppose it's not what i'm used to
Overall, a good alternative to sky or the bbc imo.

Al Jazeera is good! And I seem to switch onto it when there's a boring story on BBC NC. Good to see presenters varying from around the world and they have a good way of bringing the TOTHs too.
However their lower thirds are very disappointing, taking nearly 2 seconds to appear/change unlike other channels which take less then a second. They do need to be updated and sorted out, they are just very boring.
