wow. That's amazing... Agreed, there better be a video coming. And the BBC better be watching

Judging by that still, this looks like it could be excellent, top quality.
A full sequence would be greatly anticipated, but suffice to say the bar has been set very high already.

The completed animation will be some days away. The orb alone will consist of over 17 rendered layers which will need to be composited. I spent a lot of the day yesterday and this morning trying to get the orb to look right. then I need to add the rings, the background rings, the placenames and the "kats kradle" lines.
And this is just for the end board shot!

Hmmm. Are you sure you haven't had a sneaky look at our new titles?
This is really good and doesn't look too dissimilar from what's coming on April 10th...

Quick update, the final shot of the ident is done, and is the longest of the four of them at 24 seconds long (with 2 seconds of trim).
I am also working on the opening shot which is 6 seconds (with 2 seconds of trim again), which I hope to finish tomorrow.
That leaves two more short shots of about 2 seconds each (which I have no idea what they will be right now)!

How do you compose the lines and cities? I've been wondering how that works...
