ITV Generic Logo (More of a question than a request)

In 1989 ITV launched a generic logo (which didn't belong to a particular contractor AFAIK), which could be adapted with a triangle in the corner of the screen.

Two questions:

1. In 1998 there was a re-launch in the network, a lower-case logo was introduced, but was this re-launch the work of the contractors (just on a coalition-scale) or was it the work of the regulators (the logo was not made by/owned by a particular private contractor)?

2. In 2006 there was another logo, this was made for/owned by ITV plc. Therefore what is the generic logo of ITV (as in the network, not the company)? Is technically the latest generic ITV logo the '98/'89 one?

(3.) In a sum-up question, say a company decided to bid for a contract, which generic ITV logo would they be entitled to use to affiliate them with the network (Though this isn't the main question I'm asking)?

The 1989 logo would probably have been the brainchild of the ITV Association, formerly the Independent Television Companies Association, which was responsible for collective policy by the ITV companies in the 70s and 80s. It was the ITCA which sanctioned the abandonment of pre-programme idents in 1988.

By the next revamp, ITV ownership was split six ways, rather than fifteen, so a generic look would be easier to agree among the fewer managements and easier to impose on the licensees.

The ITC had no power to dictate how ITV regions branded themselves or even what they called their service, hence the disappearance of Westcountry and Central as region names in 1999.
