That's right, they are basic, and that's not very good. These look outdated to the point where actual examples from 20-odd years ago look better, and that shows something is wrong.
At the end of the day you can't really use a non-professional app as an excuse for poor mocks. You just have to look at it and say to yourself 'could I really see this on TV?' - My own answer to that would be a resounding 'no'.
I say scrap the animating versions (and scrap that bizarre pattern in the left segment which looks awful), and just work on producing high quality stills; that way you can place all your effort into perfecting a single shot.

I have to wonder that by putting 'Copyright of Central South' on the bottom of them you're actually giving copyright to Central Television, and so they own the images now, not you.
And I still don't get what you mean with this bit. Why do you assume I've never heard of Animation Shop, and then try to claim that I wouldn't be able to create effects like that. Your excuse about it being poorer software later on sounds like you trying to claw back some reputation after I (and probably everyone else on here) could tell you were talking out of your arse.

Technically he (or she?) hasn't given the copyright away, because "Central South" is his/her alias, and to assign the copyright to Central, the line would have to read "Central Television". Or, these days, it would have to be assigned to "ITV plc".

Pardon? I never started this, infact it was TV Forum that taught me about Safe Areas and what software to use etc..

Mocking is trying to make something for a channel; Idents, Logos, etc. A good mock would be something that would look good on TV (even if they are just ideas).
Plainly, your mocks would not look good on TV, even as ideas.
So therefore it is a bad mock.
