TSK! I'm getting an Error 500 on Metropol at the moment.

So, having endured the endless moans for a mobile gizmo we've came up with this. It's an app called tapatalk which you install on your posh phone ( iPhone , Android + blackberry [beta]) and then can see metropol in appy goodness.

There are two versions:

• FREE , which is read-only
  
• £1.79 ish where you can reply and read everything

Either way, nothing major and its really simple for me to deal with so that's all that really matters.

Hope this is helpful to those of you who liked metro on your mobile but found it a bit heavy in terms of page weight. Any issues, plonk them in this thread over there

Is that your new look then or is a temporary thing? To say that app is "yours" is a bit rich, it is an app which many hundreds of forums make use of.

Read the thread where it says that it's temporary.


Only a foolish person would think that Metropol had made it. And rich would be the wrong word.

Why waste time and effort on a temporary skin when the last one was better? I stand by the rich comment, look at the image where the link is embedded http://www.metropol247.co.uk/forum/styles/metropol-72-beta/theme/images/t/app.png it clearly says ours - ours means " : that which belongs to us —used without a following noun as a pronoun equivalent in meaning to the adjective our" sorry but that app does not belong to you so yes it is rich to make out like it is something you created.

Isn't that a button made available from the app maker for embedding on fora? I'm sure Pete will be able to clarify.

Anyway, were you to read more carefully you would have known it was a temporary skin as well as a third party app, which we make no money from the sale of.

If were a rude sort I would say it's a bit rich to document your complaints without reading the given information.

We're not claiming to have written the app anywhere, it's quite clear its a commercial app that we've installed and set up. Your accusation is based on a clumsily captioned link, nothing more. Lee wrote the text on that button and sent me the PSD, I thought it was a bit clumsy but photoshop wouldn't let me edit it because I didn't have the right font. Lee was in bed at the time I was sorting the skin therefore I didn't pester him to sort a minor error.

REST ASSURED however, I shall make it my personal mission to have that button recaptioned so as not to confuse you further.



As for the previous skin looking better, yes it was a fantastic skin but it was specifically a Eurovision design and I was sick of looking at it. Making that very simple skin took considerbly less time than attempting to recode the desk skin to take into account the various alterations that had been made to the site in the previous 4 months.

You could use a skin selection drop-down menu at the bottom of the page to switch between the current theme and the EuroVision theme for people who still want to use it.

Actually we couldn't becaue you'd end up with random images floating around everywhere due to the way we implement certain parts of the theme. You may not have noticed but we don't exactly use a bog standard skin over there, it's a very complex beast. I have a word document on my PC detailing all the various ins and outs of how to get metropol exactly how it is because it involves editing language files, template files, mods and direct php alterations.

Ah, didn't think it was that complicated.

I see the image for the app has now been updated to "View Metropol on your iPhone, Android or BlackBerry" but the font is a bit bold and small - maybe "View Metropol on your smartphone" would have been better?

I have been emailed a fabber version already. Behold how fast the Metropol machine can react to such events
