Metropol *is* this site's off topic board and has been since 2003 when the original version of "The Lounge" closed and outsourced.

When you say "the look" do you mean the theme? It is due to change soonish so it will be pretty again

I get the feeling from reading posts over the years both at TVF and Metropol that it was so it wouldn't be as restrictive, e.g. in terms of swear filters and comments on other members and aspects of the forum, but also to keep TVF's focus on television related matters.

Basically there was a prat called Jamez (troutie) who kept joining The Lounge and bullying a certain moderator.
Asa kept closing the lounge temporarily and moved it to his asanet server. Someone called Martin (James Martin?)set up Metropol and told Asa he'd run it as an external Lounge to prevent abuse and ease the admin/moderation team work load, this Martin character later handed Metro to Gav and the rest, as they say, is history.

Just to clear things up Michael...

James Martin was NOT the original admin at Metropol and never has been (or never will be). It was a guy called Martin.
