The Yorkshire and Lincolnshire Thread

Whilst I understand and fully appreciate the significance of the news overnight from South Africa and in no way wish to speak ill of the dead; Look North Leeds took the wrong decision to crowbar a local angle on this news into their bulletins this morning in my view. Mr Mandela's passing was and is being handled perfectly well with the News Channel and network programming therefore I would expect that regional news would look at what is happening locally and I maintain that this is especially so when there are more pressing local issues with regards to the climatic conditions and the disruption it has caused to report on. I accept that Look North Leeds did cover the weather and the concomitant problems that it caused; I just feel that viewers would have been better served with the weather taking the lead rather than the local view of an international story and particularly when the local view didn't really add anything to the sum of knowledge as one would quite rightly expect books of condolence to be set-up and flags to be flown at half mast.
