Some BBC Two 1991-2001 series ident queries...
The music was slightly different when the idents first launched in 1991. TV Ark has examples of the original 11 as they were on launch day. Any idea what date the altered versions arrived? I believe it was very early on. Some say even within a number of weeks. I assume these were no re-recordings, as the arrangements seem too similar but rather a remix of the existing recordings; if anyone can confirm. Also, does anyone have the story behind why it was deemed necessary to change them. I personally don't feel there was a lot wrong with the original musical forms.
Is it possible you could give us an audio comparison so we can hear the differences? To my trained ears, I can't hear a difference at all.
