New look for BBC1

My therory on way Idents now days are dull, is because we have loads of technology to make them now days, but 15 years ago they were still pretty new technology so when they made them (in the past) they had more effort to it, now we've just run out of ideas.

This reminds me of an interview that was part of the documentary about the Radiophonic Worshop (broadcast on BBC Four about a year ago). The person being interviewed believed that the most creatively inspired work is produced when avaliable technology is not quite able to fulfil the creative wishes of the artist. This does seem to hold quite a lot of truth when applied to tv presentation. Think for instance of the idents, titles and promo designs of the late 80's and early 90's, when 3d computer grapics technology had just become advanced enough to create complex three dimensional titles etc. The designers really were forced to work hard to translate a concept into reality.
