You're right, completely unnecessary. Infact why don't they present the news broadcasts from an abandoned factory to help save money? Sure the factory won't look as nice, and it may have a few homeless people walking in on the shots, but it will help reduce the costs! You never know, they may also be able to stretch to a tin of red paint and make it fit into the 'uniform' BBC News branding.
Or is the paint pushing it a bit? What with the cost it would be to the television licence payers money.....

Personally, I see no reason for more licence payer's money being spent on yet another makeover. When you think that Midlands Today is only broadcast for about hour a day Mon to Fri and just a few minutes at weekends, a new studio is completely unnecessary.
