I wouldn't be suprised if they're modified to put the Channel 4 logo on them somehow sooner or later.

True. I thought those stings in the compilation vid would've made great idents. At least they made one for the Simpsons. To be honest, I feel like these kryptonite idents would probably get scrapped after about a month or two on air.
Well they had a set that lasted just a week back in 1998 when they replaced the circles, though quickly amended these to have the 4 in a circle on a blurred out background. I guess they felt the 4 wasn't clear enough in these.
Give it six months or so and they'll ditch the filmed idents and use new ones based on the clock/Simpsons/other pres style. At least that's what I am hoping, they did drop the original set of squares idents pretty quickly but then they were probably a lot cheaper to make in the first place.

That doesn't sound bad. Maybe if they were to scrap the filmed ones, they could reveal the ending of the so called story.
I don't know if you're being facetious, but those 4s appeared on screen in a flash, which as I said before, was clever to those that had the brand already in mind from previous incarnations, but they do not enforce the brand that well. 10 years was too long a period for those, and to follow them up with even LESS of the logo is madness.

Especially considering that they haven't been 'blocks' in any real sense for 19 years or so.
And yet it's still not showing the logo. This is going to be the shortest period for an ident package ever!
Why? their intention is obviously not to have a logo... and it's not something they just suddenly came up with yesterday. It's something that's been thought through and decided on over months. I don't think they'll suddenly splash a logo on everything very soon

And in any case, the logo will still on screen for HD viewers and +1 viewers, so I dare say not to have it on the main idents is a logical step in that direction. That may be where they're going; start a trend of idents that don't have a logo on them; leave that to the DOG.
