The Wright Stuff

I got a bit bored so thought I would create a new package of graphics to be used on The Wright Stuff. I think the current graphics are too large on screen and are now relatively old (having been last designed in 2011).



I am really interested in what people think, so please comment and rate if you like!!
Oh and the most important questions- do you think a) it does what I aimed to do and b)it's a vast improvement on the current graphics??

I really like the logo, the title card, the break bumper. I think the logo is way to big on screen if it will be there all the time. It's even bigger than now! An onscreen clock would be nice. Helvetica is a boring font to use for a show like this IMO. Use something different for the straps. I think you could get away with replacing grey with blue on the straps to make it look less dull. I think 'wright' in the logo needs to be less spaced too. Perhaps some slight translucency in the straps would be a nice touch to give it that glossy feel that suits the show. It's a really good effort but there are lots of things that need to be worked in. I'm not sure what Rating to give it yet, but 3/5 is probably where it's at right now.

Edit: although it is weird (not bad) how when the font Cocogoose was used in my mock, lots of others suddenly use it too. Declan's Five mock, Bruce12345's Lorraine mock and this... Fonts seem to trend here... Perhaps it would be nice if you found another font. I actually don't think it's right for this mock. Keep it if you want, but perhaps a glossier feel is what you should be going for? That font doesn't really suit it IMO.

Okay thank you so much for the review. I will be working on it over the next week or so. I love how you always take credit and believe that you've been copied on so many peoples mocks, including my GMB mock!! Especially when I downloaded Cocogoose way before it appeared in your weekend mock!!

Anyone else who has any feedback, I would be really grateful to hear, whether publicly or through PM.
Also, if anyone has any suggestions on fonts (for the logo or otherwise) please let me know! Because I'm not in the know when it comes to font types.

Not saying you copied me, just saying it's an interesting trend on The Gallery. I don't have any problem! I think the wright stuff should be more glossy so a different font might be better. Anyway I don't remember accusing you of copying on your GMB mock, and I think we should put that behind us, ok!

I don't know why people keep on giving/expecting feedback via PM all of a sudden!? It's much better for everyone to see the feedback. It is a forum after all.

ASO, just to confirm although I had seen your mock before I first upload my FIVE mock my first version never had cocogoose as the font. When I did take cocogoose on board it was certainly not with any intent to copy you. I found it on dafont.com and just think it's a really nice font. Hope that clarifies it in case you were concerned haha!

Okay, so I've worked on the Mock, I've actually kept COCOGOOSE because I really like the font and couldn't find anything that fitted better with some of the pieces of the mock that I really liked and wanted to keep. So I've made some rather serious changes throughout when compared with the first mock, because I felt that they were important!! I understand if people prefer the original, and am more than happy for people to tell me that and I will revert, but I see these as a major improvement. Still not 100% about the logo and the clock, but it fits better like this compared to the original above!! The 'Join the discussion' part needs work probably, wanted something that is always on screen but doesn't take up too much room, but I'm aware it is similar to GMB's current graphic, so I'll think about changing that!! It is also difficult as it needs to go there so that the main titles etc. can fit into the 4:3 safe area.

That is a nice improvement all around.

another thing... I can imagine the titles really well. Those diagonal squares would have shots of the presenter and people talking etc. with the squares moving up like a conveyor belt, before the green square flips in with the, wright and stuff appearing on the screen in time with the music.

Some minor points:
• I think the clock is too small. The text is at least and perhaps grey is not right? Your choice... but is grey a bit dull for a lively show like that? I think the other bits in grey are nice though.
• I do think cocogoose is ok for this mock now, but is that verdana or tahoma that you've replaced helvetica with? You could use Avenir, or DIN, or another weight of Helvetica (Neue). They're all on your apple computer for free and they're all brilliant fonts. What about Coolvetica? That is free download I believe and could work?

Overall it is very well thought out and I really like it!

You're doing a studio mock next aren't you!

Final A Level exam is monday afternoon, so should begin my first studio mock around 4pm, and have it uploaded before the end of Tuesday. I think that I'll begin with a studio for the Five mock by Declan, but will also work on a World cup one also- after been ultra critical of both the BBC and ITV's studio design!! I would love to get something done for this too- but ought to stick to my word for the others first! and want this to be original and work really well!! I think that maybe the studio audience could go? I'll wait and see...

Really glad you like the overall look of these graphics, Im really pleased, the idea for the titles was similar to what you said but the presenters might not appear in the translucent rectangles as I want them to be like conveyers but have a couple of different angles/ directions ending in the end screen above. I'll update the font (That as you said is Tahoma!!) and will upload a couple of them for you too look at. The clock will also change size- whilst the box remains the same, because otherwise I will have to raise the logo- which is already higher than the other graphics!
