I know why they use it as a brand. I was just expressing my opinion that I dislike the clunky name 'Sky Living'.

It's only clunky because you're used to Living as a standalone brand. It's certainly no more clunky than Sky Travel or Sky Real Lives.

Disagree on the Travel one, because Travel actually means 'Sky's channel about Travel' like News or Sports mean 'Sky's channels about News and Sport' but 'Living' is more of an insinuation of what the channel does rather than actually spelling it out.

That said I think the addition of the word Sky to Living is useful, for Sky as a whole as opposed to Living itself.

It's not that far from 'lifestyle', which I think would accurately describe most of their output.

But it's not Lifestyle which is a direct description and that's my point and I think why it sounds clunky to some ears.

Forgot about 'Sky Real Lives'. In comparison to that, 'Sky Living' is a decent name.

Yay! Jon, that's the best piece of marketing 'double-speak' I've heard in years. Laughing

Sky added their name to the channel for brand purposes only. Shocked

I happen to think it's a good channel BTW.

The logo was probably designed in house, and the rest of the brand design package would incur the bulk of the costs. That and marketing the new shows/brand.

God, you're pretentious at times. I'm certain GMc will have already known all of what you posted above.

I suppose it shakes off the femininity of it to prevent alienating male viewers... but with a name like Sky Living...

Of course, it probably wouldn't be like that if this was a brand new channel - but Sky Living is trying to shake off its feminine image from the programming it has carried as Sky Living, Living, Living TV and UK Living since the 1990s. It's definitely not going to be an overnight change in perception!

That new colour scheme looks quite nice. The description given was 'blue and silver', so it'll be interesting to see how it's executed on screen.
