Yes, it did. The purple hearts idents were an ITV Network thing, not necessarily a Granada one. All three UNM regions (HTV, Anglia, Meridian) adopted them, as did Border, Channel and the GMG regions (Granada, Yorkshire, Tyne Tees, LWT). This was Monday 8th November for all of them, except LWT which was Friday 12th November.
Although TV Ark suggests that Meridian (and so, probably Anglia & HTV too) retained their existing ident for occassional regional programme junctions, I've seen no evidence of that. Looking at regional news titles from these regions of the time, any preceding ident shown is the hearts ones. Also, I could get HTV Wales reception, albeit rubbish quality, from my parents house and recall HTV using just the hearts idents at every junction around 2000 time. Furthermore, the pre-form up film sequences were only used occassionally (whereas GMG North were using them on most junctions in the early hearts era) and when used, the music was always the strings version and not the piano varient that GMG North used for certain variations (i.e. the washing line one). Most HTV Wales junctions, however, seemed to just use the plain lines form-up ident.
HTV: did the yellow ident hit the bucket in Nover 1999? Granada never bough the station until 2000.
