Do any of you think that the BBC will show 'House Of Cards' again, UK Drama is at the moment, but this fantastic drama should be shown to the country again!

If there's one drama the BBC should show again and not UKTV, then it's Tenko. It was one of the best series - ever!

If they can show Shoestring, why not Tenko?

Certainly in the case of The House of Cards, I think there's some international rights dispute, with Grundy Television in Australia I think. From what I remember about the final part of that series, 'The Final Cut' shown on BBC1 in 1995, it's never actually been released on video here for that very reason, despite the fact 'The House of Cards' and 'To Play The King' where...

Interesting - I have a relative that is a great fan of the trilogy, and whilst we found (and brought) the first two, we couldn't find the final one... Obviously I'm wrong in my theory of the rights dispute.

HMV and Virgin Megastores have all three, but if you go and do not see it on the displays, just ask at the desk, and they will order it for you.

Does anyone know if the Beeb are planning to bring them out on DVD? Though I like them all my personal fav has to be the original House of Cards, my favourite character has to be Mattie.. shame how she ended up though..

Is it me going off at a tangent but were they based on Jeffery Archer's novels - or am I thinking of another dramatization? I know that some of his novels have been serialised you see.

They are based on novels - all by Michael Dobbs (a former Tory Party worker and aide to Thatcher) not Archer. Although, a little bit of a difference is that the House of Cards was only written as a single story (in the novel Mattie walks off the roof terrace to call the police leaving Urquhart standing there) however, when they BBC dramatised it they left off the ending allowing Michael Dobbs to write another two stories which the BBC also dramatised. The books should be available at your local library or book seller - all a very good read as they provide more depth than the dramatizations.

i like Francis Urquart, i know that seems sadist, but he has a depth and the links between this trilogy and the famous scottish play is very clear, if it wer not for Mrs Urquart, i dont think any of it would of happened, as in macbeth, also in to play the king, there is a character called Cawdor...

The best drama series i have ever seen, and yes Susana Harkers famous last lines.

FU 'Do you trust me Mattie?'
MS 'You know i do, i love you!'

Very very powerful, especially her 'DADDY... ...' as she fell to her death

I see that Francis Urquhart was voted the 65 most famous character of all time. 'You might think that I couldn't possibly comment'!http://web.ukonline.co.uk/tv.home/forum/emoticons/biggrin.gif
