Something Different at the Weekend

(January 2002)

ITV Channel Islands
I was thinking about all the different ITV regions and came up with an idea if anyone else is interested.

Perhaps each weekend we could all agree to watch a different ITV region e.g. this weekend Channel next weekend LWT and then the week following discuss want we all thought.

If anyone is up for it we can use this thread to save bandwidth.

Going on from that idea, how about people who have their own capture card & camera producing their own 'network' and streaming it over the web for everyone else to see?

An idea to get you started is each to produce a 5 minute item about something that interests you (despite TV!!), such as your football team, skiing or whatever. Someone sign up to Yahoo Messaging (who provide free streaming facilities) with a default password which is passed around the participants, and decide amongst yourselves who has 'network control' at specific times, ie at a given time, 'Fred' logs off the account and 'Charlie' signs into it & streams their material - in other words Fred hands over Network Control to Charlie.

Am I making sense? I've got such a stinking cold right now. Probably not making sense am I?!!

Anyhow, thought it might get people who want to get into TV a little bit more interested in making a programme from scratch & broadcasting it - well streaming it anyway! Smile

That's not easy for some! I for one only can recieve 1 ITV1 region! (That's 4 times I mentioned 1!)

Yes,but not everyone has Sky Digital or lives in a overlap area so what's the point.

That actually works. Though the sound or picture is delayed by a couple of seconds through Yahoo.

Speaking of which, a site used to exist like that. ICraveTV.com broadcasted major North American TV networks, and people could watch the channels anywhere in the world. But all the broadcasters featured threatened legal action and boom, they're gone now.

Wish they have something like that in the UK.

Actually its a good idea, it would mean that a group of people could discuss which has the best pres, I wouldn't be able to join in, but it would be interesting reading what people thought of each region in turn.

I totally realise that not everyone is lucky enough to have all ITV regions but I thought it would interesting to discuss in the forum.

This weekend I have been watching Anglia and it is very interesting I will share my views next week if anyone wants to join in.

I'd hate to be picky, but it was Mark Williams as Jesse, (says someone who had the 1996 Fast Show Xmas Show video for Xmas !)

Sounds like a good idea - but why not go the whole hog? We all know we could run a TV station with better presentation, idents and programmes than ITV - or come to think of it, most others - maybe this is our chance to prove it - think of a name and someone can get some mock idents done for our new webTV station!
