One day this year, FremantleMediaUK intends to split talkbackTHAMES into two companies again, to be called, Talkback and Thames (I didn't see that coming). Below is what potentially the Talkback logo could look like. Note that it is just the plain logo which is why it is very simple as it will be used in print, when or if it is used on screen it will of course be surrounded by blurry colours and the logo will be three dimensional with fake sun glare and metallic surfaced.

The 'back' is deliberately upside down to represent the word being 'back' to front. The symbol in the middle represents tape around a spindle.

For something that only appears on onscreen for a few seconds, it's not easiest to make out.

I imagine it will animate on screen with the 'spindle' rotating anti-clockwise to reel the name in, thus the whole word will be horizontal for a few moments making it easily readable.

Gosh, there's really nothing going for it at all I'm afraid. The text looks more suited to a leisure centre flyer than a production company; WordArtastic.

The symbol's too abstract, it wouldn't scale... I could go on.

Here is a more traditional version. For small scale use there will be a separate version.

Invent, I challenge you to find any logos for broadcast companies where the text behaves in the same way as it does in yours. I'm pretty sure you'll first have great difficulty finding one, and then even more difficulty in finding one that looks good, or is clear enough to go on a tv screen.

I'm pretty sure that 99.99 % of all logos are not formatted in this way, and those that are look absolutely aweful.

EDIT:

This one is far better.

Why do you need a separate smaller scale logo? - You only need one treatment for a logo like this.

Don't really like the logo, looks more like a something for a gas company from the 1980's.

Almost exactly my thinking. Don't forget that the best logos are timeless, just look at the classic ITV Regions logos. To be timeless, they have to be simple yet recognisable.

This logo is an attempt at a more modern approach.

But this is the exact opposite! It's complicated, convoluted, ugly, wouldn't work on screen...

However which way you try to spin it, these just aren't that good. And presenting a few logos and expecting us to imagine how they'd work is a bit off isn't it; surely that's your job?

What? are you serious?

Whilst i would agree with you that the ITV regional logos are Classic, they are not timeless.

Your assertion that timeless logos should be simple is also a load of bunk, just look a the 'Coca Cola' and 'Jack Daniels' logos.

Timeless means "not restricted to a particular time or date", so when referring to a design it would mean that it does not look old, dated, or from a particular time.

Your logos are neither Timeless or Classic, theyre just crap.

At least I have come up with a new idea, everyone else just likes Daybreak and BBC News, all of which are not very good. Is the only way to get a positive response is making something that already exists?
