Nobody cares about the accuracy of the term. "Hurricane Bawbag" is purely an injection of humour into the whole escapade - not in any way designed to be taken seriously.

I'm more than a little disappointed to see people (including the Schaff) falling over themselves to correct the terminology. If it *was* a hurricane, it would have been named by the Met Office, and not some Glasgweigan twitter users.

We all knew that up here - we were just trying to make light of a day of bad weather, but this has been largely lost on so many people, it seems.

For somebody who declares that "nobody cares", you appear insistent on making a point over it with, your double post Laughing

I do take your point about the Hurrican Bawbag thing being a joke, clearly hyperbole. However I think your disappointment is misplaced with Mr Schafernaker, seemingly the purpose of his comments were lost on you: Tomasz wasn't "falling over himself" to correct the terminology-- at first all he did was report the mph strength of the winds in Scotland on Fbk.

Then he noted that there was some discussion in the subsequent comments, as to what to qualifies as a hurricane: Thence he merely explained the difference between hurricane winds and hurricane-force winds, since some people were pondering on that *general* point-- that was it-- just a clarification. He placed no value judgement about Scots calling it "Hurricane Bawbag", he let us make up our own minds on that. What he did say was that we didn't have a hurricane, but we did have hurricane-force winds-- so one could argue the latter fact jusitfies the epithet. So I'm more than a little disappointed (as well surprised) to see you 'falling over yourself' to denigrate The Schaf, Gavin Wink
