Time out chaps. I know it's not possible to do it "right" at the first time of asking.

its better that you learn to correct your mistakes than to do everything perfect the first time.

No! The thing you should do is start from scratch. I am sorry but the way you are going about it is stupid. If you want to do it right, do it right. There is no work around. There is no ' well that will do, as it looks half decent '. Either do it right or don't. Simple.

I don't disagree with you - half decent will not do. If you want to do it right you should do it right.

But how do you start from scratch and do it right when you arent an expert in the programmes you are using?

Better you go through a discovery process and do it wrong a few times before you get to the final product, than be restricted to the 'rules' of how it should be from the very beginning, and learn nothing.

Well that's what I'm trying to do. Find out what works and what doesn't.

Well, the ABC one that you linked to in the first post works, with exception of you needing to use a proper logo.

I don't understand this " even I don't think it's good " attitude. You're wasting everyone's time if that's honestly what you believe.

Stop and take a minute to look at how channels are currently presented. Can you do it justice by creating something new but conventionally similar? If not, don't bother.

If yes, great but you won't be able to do it in a day. Devise a concept, see what works, change what doesn't. It could take a week, it could take a month, who knows. But only when you're completely satisfied is it worth posting.

Perhaps this forum needs a sticky "Art of Mocking" thread again?

He knows all that he's not completely devoid of intelligence.

...and yes we do need an 'Art of Mocking' sticky.

If only to get rid of all the aweful Google Sketchup and Daybreak rubbish.

I'm not an idiot and yes we could do with a sticky.

Can you explain what "mock overload" means?

He knows all that he's not completely devoid of intelligence.

Well I'd hate to come across as patronising but it's the same stuff on a different day here. I wouldn't start a mock without looking to see how it's currently done, what they do well, what can be improved.

Yet it seems others don't bother if their mocks are what we have to go by.

Which is why I'm asking for advice.

...which is exactly why I agreed with you when you said we needed a 'sticky'.
