Perhaps bbc1's trailer endboards might give a hint towards the forthcoming new xmas idents.
Not sure when the idents will start though, Sat December 18th would seem the most sensible choice.
Surely it won't be 11th December??
BTW, I've read that there are new idents for bbc1 but probably not for bbc2 ie Magic Sprite back for a FOURTH consecutive christmas.

I would love for this to come back and bite me but I would bank on that being the case; disappointing but no more than we've come to expect from a channel that no longer seems to care about its on screen appearance. The Window theme has been in existence for almost 4 years now and in that time, far from being expanded upon, the number of idents has been reduced from (incl. all variants) 15 at launch to just 7 by June 2009 whilst special additions have evaporated over the past 18 months.
A complete branding overhaul is what's needed. In the meantime, at least the "Origami World" is a well rounded, well produced package, though there's no reason why they shouldn't at least add a third ident to the set to compensate for its perennial appearances.

However it is incorrect. Midnight Mass (the church service NOT the film) will be broadcast on bbc1 on christmas eve coming from Liverpool's Roman Catholic Cathedral, confirmed on the bbc press office release of last week.
I used to go to Liverpool uni and the cathedral is at the heart of the univeristy complex, it is affectionately known locally as "Paddy's wig-wam" !!
