To be honest I think that a lot of people on this forum will not like it, as it does not seemed to be aimed at those on here. I liked it, something different at 6.30pm, more showbiz than One Show, i think the show could be a grower.
Though I would have argued the people at DS
were
the right people for it, and the vast majority there seem to hate it!
Imaginative way to use the same studio and part of the set. However it all looks cheap and nasty except for whats left of the sofa. Was the designer influenced by their visits to the cinema as a child ?
I actually feel sorry for Natasha Kaplinsky, yes - maybe I shouldn't, when shes on such a high pay. But to be honest, when she joined Five, she was THE big image for the channel, a new direction for five news, for five itself.
But now, her programme is relatively under advertised, low rated and now it even looks cheap. I never liked the curved, ITN esque set when it debuted, but now the whole space looks HORRENDUS. Who the hell designed that set-up?
I would have actually preferred Five News with Natasha to have moved to the Sky News mezz, you wouldn't see any Sky presenters, only the fins, and the newsroom - a lovely view. Since the fins are hardly seen on SN, they could have coloured them purple, infitting with the colours of Five News - and it would cut costs?
Probably getting the last laugh. The show is a dumbed down version of The Wright Stuff or even Loose Women with a set that looks like it belongs on Channel 4 at midnight on a Friday. The format has potential but it isn't being used properly, especially with an ex footballer, an ex model and an reality TV reject with no real structure or aims. The name doesn't really help, 'Live From Studio Five' sounds like an entertainment show. They could probably do with merging Five News and LFSF for an hour in the 5pm slot. It was awful, the ratings practically halved whilst the show was on air!!
Some very weird scheduling of Five News over the Christmas period
In the week before Christmas there are three 15 minute bulletins around 12, 2 and 4
Then the week after Christmas, including the Bank Holiday Monday, the half hour bulletins return
Also the Monday 16th November bulletin made it over the one million mark with 1.03m viewers. It also made it the 29th most watched programme on Five for the week 16th-22nd Nov. Very rare these days Five News makes it into the Top30 Five programmes, or that it gets over a million viewers
Possibly for the first time Natasha did the lunchtime bulletin today. Also, for the first time for a few months the lunchtime bulletin came from the studio, and had live shots. There was also a 'Five' report from Matt (normally any reports at Lunchtime are Sky News ones)
