[And, the prerecorded parts presumably had the TV off to allow it to be... prerecorded.

Nothing was prerecorded.

Distraction... theres another word from Derren's book of mind games.

Impressive but I have no idea how he did it.

I thought split screens at first but maybe that's too simple.

We saw the camera that was up the front with Derren was clearly hand held yet throughout the draw, there were shots that were far too steady to be from a hand held and at some points look almost if they were tripod based.

Again, we only saw one wide shot - possibly pre-recorded to allow the handheld camera to be placed on some kind of mount to allow for clever trickery.

And, the prerecorded parts presumably had the TV off to allow it to be... prerecorded. Surely he could secure rights to show more of the programme.

Not sure they would even need to officially obtain the rights. Channel 4 took the risk of showing the output of other channels without permission when they showed Flipside a few years ago. I think there were a lot of excuses in the show this evening. "For legal reasons", "For technical reasons" and "For security reasons" were used to explain things away.

Why did we only see one shot with the camra right at the back?

Because if it had flicked between the two then people would have claimed that's when the switch was made etc.

So why would he need two?

To provide a scene-setting wide shot of the studio at the beginning, otherwise the cameraman would have had to have legged it up the audience rostra!

It would be covered by the fair use clause in copyright... as Flipside was. But Flipside too only showed brief clips of other channels. It is 'Fair Use' to show the draw that's relevant to the programme but not the rest.

Of course neither he nor Flipside were the first to show another channel on air: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cReFpHPWYJ0 Laughing

Someone needs to make a version with the shaking camera steadied either that or wait until Friday night. Either way is good.

Fipside first started on Sky channel Nation 277 (later rebranded 217) then moved to Paramount for a few weeks.

Exactly, and the second camera angle will probably be used to explain it on Friday.

Just watching E4+1 - I love the continuity before the advert break preceeding the live programme. They did a cross promotion for what's on the other '4' channels and Derren Brown was on all of them.

'hang on what's going on, how's he doing that. Even friends doesn't make it onto all our channels!'

Yes, the point of Nation was to try out new formats which it could sell on to other channels and Flipside was it's only success

I think he's right, I've just watched the recording I made, you can see the ball on the far left move up (if you notice when he turns it round the final ball on the right is not actually touching the bottom of holder). Before he turns the TV off, it's very slight but you can see it move. When he's writing the numbers down, when he says "23", that's when it happens.

Yes, I've just watched it back and you're absolutely right - well spotted! When Brown says '23', the ball on the far left visibly (but ever so slightly) moves upwards - that's when the fade occurs. Confirms my theory 100%.

I can predict the lottery too. I predict that there will be 7 balls drawn. Does that count?

As for the numbers...

It could be me.

how did u manage to predict 5 numbers hours before the programmes were on?
