The Wales Thread

It's amazing that HTV has been pushed down to the status of overlap region on Sky around here- this could have been there big chance to replace Granada as the regions ITV station. The most surprising thing is that its considered as the SECOND overlap so even Central comes higher on the Sky EPG(963).
I noticed yesterday while at the football the advert for Soccer Sunday still carries the HTV logo- I think if they replaced it with an ITV1Wales one most people would think they could watch it on Granada. Fair play to HTV on Soccer Sunday-good coverage of Wrexham's promotion to Div.2 on both HTV News and Soccer Sunday.

Do you *EVER* stop complaining? Ever?! What is your problem? Why didn't you mention it? Were you just sitting there waiting for us to miss it and then have a good old criticise? Just mention it yourself why don't you. Don't bother having a dig at me for not hearing about it!

I also hadn't heard about this, I didn't deliberately withold the information. Whataday you should have just posted about it, not criticised the fact that I didn't know -- why should I? I don't understand your motives there..

And we don't have total control over this thread, perhaps we post the most, certainly I have no more control over this thread than you do! Why would I? I'm not a moderator. And I am never in the slightest bit concerned about who reads the weekend news as I *very* rarely watch it.

Nearly every single one of your posts is a criticism, a dig or a negative comment -- what have you offered us that's so special and wonderful? Why do you always seek to criticise this thread and its content? It's just letters on a screen! It's not a manifesto, you didn't vote for us, we are not doing you a service, it's not our job, you're not my customer -- and I hold absolutely *no* accountability to you.

Most perplexing. As I said in another thread, it does Wrexham-ers very little service indeed watching any other ITV station than HTV. Politically, sport-wise and news coverage-wise, Granada and Central are poor, if not irrelevant to them, whereas HTV covers them entirely and fully.

So I am not allowed to air my views within this thread without YOU saying that IM being negative and causing trouble - maybe you need to look a bit closer to home before making accusations like that!

Also the mood of this 'place' is 85% a twosome between you (tvdragon) and Jez - i dont mind that but you seem very proud of this thread and almost treat it as if one of your babies or something!
When I do post - the post is always ignored and disregarded and hence YOU are making me negative as you never reply or engage in conversation!

Ever since I have come here it hasnt been a very welcoming place and that has been repeated AGAIN today within the HTV1WALES thread!

Of course you are allowed your views -- I just wish they were usually positive ones, which they aren't. And yes I'm criticising you now, but only because [here comes the childish yet valid response] you started it, and you provoked my response with your attitude. I don't take that attitude usually. That's a nonsensical jump. I can't and wouldn't reply to every single thing that's on here -- just cos I started the thread, doesn't mean I'm president of it. As we both agree, I post a lot to it, doesn't make me more important though! And maybe I don't reply to something you say because I've nothing to add, I know nothing special -- I just report on things after I see them [which I didn't about these awards, so I can't be judged]. Maybe I have no opinion on something you've said -- you're not criticising everyone else for not responding to something you've said, but you're singling me out Why am I special? -- I've done you no harm, it's only now I've spoken about how much I don't care for your negative tone to be honest. I don't know what posts you might be referring to either, but I don't have an agenda of being negative to people through not repsonding to their posts -- you're quite mistaken.

This place isn't a "twosome", just perhaps people don't watch Welsh tv with as much regularity, or perhaps others aren't bothered enough to comment, whereas we do.

With regards when you first came here, your first post was a criticism! Before you'd even really started you were off with your negative comments, and also posted an unfeasibly long string of idents for some reason which a moderator decided to edit out.

I will most probably be asleep at that time I hope, but I'm sure many people will be glad of the info! But in fairness, why couldn't you have just posted "Oh, there were some Welsh baftas today, I saw in the paper.." and "You may like to know that there is a new ident.." instead of the attack you did give, and have given so many times before.

If you've nothing more to add, I think we ought to move away from this now, don't you agree?

I'm not normally the type of person to get invoved with any sort of "spat"between forum members, however (here it comes), first of all I have to disagree with the above comment that this is not a friendly forum. In general the majority of opinions expressed on this thread have either had constructive or negative feedback, but all in all contributors have respected each others views/opinions. Yes there are times when certain members have contributed more than others, and at times it can be a bit banal/repetative (eg whose reading the weekend/late news( don't take that the wrong way)), but I think its fair to say that all contributors to this thread have one thing in common, and thats an interest in Welsh television presentation or Welsh media as a whole.

This is one of the only places (if not the only place) where people can sit down and express their views on Welsh media, and thats why this thread makes interesting reading because we are all expressing our views in a positive light. Some of us have experience in working in the Welsh media, some of us probably still work in the media, and all of us have an interest in the media, so lets use these different backgrounds to continue to provide an interesting and enjoyable thread and not turn it into a personal slanging match between members , which has happenned in other threads,

Anyway, I'm now getting off my soap box and going to bed and looking forward to some interesting chat tomorrow, so don't dissapoint me.

Certainly mention anything of interest in any Welsh programme, continuity, anything, radio even -- caps are most welcome , but we have indeed had enough of presenter rotas and the like.

Doesn't Oscar the Puffin from Channel TV have a cousin that lives in Pembrokeshire, and Pembs sometimes calls their puffin after him? There seemed to be a few puffin things when I was there, on houses, and roads called Puffin Road or summat.

What was his name now? Jamez mentioned him once.

Puffins are amazing creatures aren't they, little delicate hoppy birds that look like penguins.. but also parrots. None of this is relevant to tv so there I shall stop.
