Good Lord no - I'll be glad to see the back of those titles! Music and all!

The only spanner I'd throw in the works tomorrow is that the online RTÉ Press Centre (even the passworded journo section) has absolutely no mention of the relaunch at all, let alone images for print media download as is typical.

Either they are:

a) Treating this as a low-key relaunch in these recessionary times
b) Being highly selective and protective of their marketing
c) The launch isn't until next week
d) They're just being typically incompetent

Difficult to know which.

I hope not but I would say c) is the most likely explanation as to why there has been no media coverage of the revamp. Otherwise I'd say a) then b). VERY unlike them not all over to blow their horns about something as big as this. Papers such as the Independent are usually all over stories about RTÉ spending money. Tomorrow will tell...

It's both A and B...the press department wasn't able to tell me much, but last Monday, they told me rehearsals were happening this week, and would be launched "within the week or so". I'm about 95% sure it's tommorrow.

No change during the morning summary Confused. I suspect we are a week early...again.

It's supposed to be any day now...I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a Wednesday launch.

An improvement!
The title music is a little too, I dunno, cheesy for my liking, but a nice colour scheme, animated straps (with the 'Dublin City' tag shifting to the top to accomodate the strap when needed Very Happy ) and the desk looks great!
From what I've seen of the backdrop so far it looks good, it'll be interesting to see what happens in the rest of the bulletin.
Also interesting to note another change of the RTÉ News logo!

Agree with most of your points Milktrolley, titles are definitely OTT but a nice colour scheme, nice backdrop, and FINALLY a musical accompaniment to the wide shot after the titles. An inset just now behind Finnerty; I still have no idea whether the backdrop is real, screens or CSO.

Enjoyed the chat where John Finnerty said "shart" instead of "short" Very Happy
Also the business news now has a pretty good bed, plus the added bonus of no laptops of course
