Watching Assault on Precinct 13 on Film Four and it suddenly goes into fast forward mode. Great. So pulled it and they've had the breakdown slide up for about ten minutes.

Now in adverts..!

Will it resume from where it left off and run late, tx the breakdown slide until the next film or just cut out a chunk of the film... interesting.

They went with a clean ident followed by the off-air promo.

Update - now running promos doesn't look like they're going to bother resuming the movie that was about 30 mins away from conclusion.

Nice touch by running a promo for the movie they've just messed up too Rolling Eyes

They'll probably reschedule it now. It must have been a pretty major problem for the breakdown to last ten minutes in the first place.

Seems like they were waiting for the next and final break junction. The lack of live continuity is missed at times like these. The pre-records were great.."we can now rejoin the film" followed by "we are unable to bring the scheduled film"... oh well.

Edit: Just had some live continuity into Saw apologising for the breakdown... better than nothing.

At the 11.05 junction, a live CA was drafted in to apologise for the technical problems and to state that the film will be repeated on December 31st.

The film is still going out on FilmFour+1 of course. Shame they can't butt into that now and let everyone know not to bother continuing to watch it! Laughing

EDIT: damn, just missed the breakdown on +1

Ah so they didn't attempt to correct the +1 showing. They have a habit of altering the output of their +1 channels sometimes. Mostly E4+1, it sticks in my mind earlier this year they aired the wrong episode of Hollyoaks on E4 but corrected the +1 showing.

Wonder how they managed to do that? AIUI they're just recorded and then played back.

If they can do that on the others, I'd have thought that FilmFour's setup would be a lot more simple purley because of the sort of channel it is

Even if they can get into the +1 stream and broadcast a different episode/programme, in this case it would have been impossible as the movie would have already started on film four +1 before the movie went in to fast forward on the main channel.

True, but that doesn't mean that they couldn't have played the non-timeshifted replacement from the point of the breakdown... assuming that the copy they have isn't totally screwed and impossible to play past that point!

The fact that they couldn't continue it in the first place would suggest that it was a problem with the film itself, or its server copy.

I thought that some of the timeshift channels were the same automated schedule, just an hour later, rather than being a true timeshift? Meaning that a problem on the main channel wouldn't necessarily also apply to the +1?
