Calendar and Look North are awful. Calendar in particular looks so cold and forlorn in blue.

Both should bring back desks.

East Midlands Today looks awful as well. The set nods towards the previous National set, which in itself is out of date, but it's been so badly done that it looks rubbish. However it does improve slightly when they show other images on the screens behind the presenters - the normal view of Trent Bridge looks washed out and very boring. A complete revamp is needed, as the titles have been practically unchanged since 2002 as well.

South Today needs a revamp. It is still stuck in the cream and red era only with a lick of red paint. The music is hideous and doesn't match todays new design. The 'exploding rings' are far to old fashioned.

Spotlight looks fine. It may be stuck in the red & cream era, but the set is still modern and excellent use of the limited space they have at the Seymour Road studio.

I don't imagine they will change anything until they relocate.

The "exploding rings" title sequence also fits, because they have restored the old "lighthouse" logo within them which harks back to the late 90s.

I also think that the fact that the music from 1999 is still used is important - it is miles better than the BBC LDN theme tune.

Look out for subtle changes to the ITV regions from Monday. Nothing to wet yourself about though. As the regions go widescreen the titles and on screen graphics are being updated a little. Same music and same studio though.

Central's set looked a lot more light blue on the right hand side with a hint of teal. The titles are going slightly more blue.

No, I think the graphics on Look East are simple but neat and fulfiling. It had new titles a few weeks ago and they give it a fresh feel. I wouldn't change anything about it.

Anglia News needs a change though. The graphics look horrible in green and the weather should be forecast on the same set as the news. I have read that ITV is rebranding next year so it should change then.

I've heard itv London is getting a mini revamp on Sunday with widescreen. Are all regions getting one?

Perhaps ITV regions are just getting an updated strap, with the colour blue instead of teal, as seen in the ITV News thread it looks as if the straps will be blue.

The BBC regions face tough competition Laughing ITV have new graphics and new titles - they look quite nice (and they're broadcasting in widescreen! except Westcountry).

But in most cases the BBC Regions will win on a content basis Wink
