Okay, I'm not normally a one to start a completely new thread about my site, but I could really do with some help on this one. Basically, a few people lately have found they cant get to the site. Now it seems to be something to do with the domain name not resolving correctly when certain ISPs are trying to access it, and affects people randomly, disappearing and reappearing.

I am seriously thinking of moving the site again though, as it does seem to be happening a bit too often, which is where I could do with some help. Basically all I want to know is how often people cannot 'see' the site.

Look at the image below... it should show the site's logo.

If it doesn't appear, please let me know either in this thread, or by email (my address is in my profile).

Thanks

Okay I see it fine. Do you host this site yourself at home or is it on a webhost somewhere?

It's actually on a proper webhost, and the monitoring service I have watching it has never reported any problems. It just seems some ISPs cannot actually see resolve the domain name to the host for a few hours at a time.

Okay. Is it the tvwhirl.co.uk domain or the other one. And can visitors still get to the site if they use the sixth voyager one?

If www.tvwhirl.co.uk is using a service like 123reg check you've not tried to set the DNS settings of it and done this incorrectly if you have.

When I was setting up my home server it took 24hours for the domain to point to the server and some ISPs took a while before the recognised the changes.

The TV Whirl domain works fine, with the DNS pointing to 123-reg, which then opens the redirect page for where the site is stored on sixthvoyager.net/tvwhirl. It's the actual sixthvoyager.net domain, with the DNS pointing to the webhost, thats the problem. It's there, but some ISPs refuse to accept it is. As for the settings, they haven't been changed for a few month now, so all ISPs should be able to see it properly.

You said they haven't been changed for a few 'months' now. Perhaps you should go back and check the details and update any mistakes or just put the command through to redo what was done a few months ago. Just to see if it resolves the problem

It's definately all correct, and I have checked it several times. I think it's just a problem with the pathetic hosts nameservers (well, I didn't expect much for how little I'm paying). According to some tests I tried running, it resolves the domain quite slowly (by net standards), so I suspect alot of ISPs are giving up. Whatever the cause, I'm moving the site now anyway to my decent host. I've already moved the forum, and I'll shift the rest of it sometime next week.

Thanks for your help
