BBC Today

OK, i did sort of get this idea from BOTH the BBC Today show on Radio 4, and (as many may of guessed) NBC Today. This is as a replacement for Brekafast, which as you may of known, i dont like becouse of several factors! Anyhoo, this mock, im not too sure about the opening titles that i have here, but here they are anyway!
firstly to say, that the opening titles will not only happen at 6 when the whole thing starts. at the top of the hour, it is acted like it has only started then, so the date and opening graphics will be shown then, not like just a round up of news!

The Today Logo would sort of burn onto the screen, like a fade but looking a bit better then that! Then "Headlines" would appear on screen, and then it goes after half way through the headlines, it would appear of, the presenter would say "and that is what is happening so far Today...." (image below appears)

".....1st April 2005". The titles would then appear after the today logo burns back off and the bar with the date leaves the screen..

The Opening titles. Personally, im not too sure with this. But i think it is sort of a clean look if you catch my drift. But i might re-work it, if i had some useable suggestions!

The news update. This is a bit like the Moria part of Breakfast which i do like, as it is a change of presenters!

Aston, this would sort of animate like the BBC News 24 aston. and the Today logo would,again do that sort of burn on effect

The Live Aston. When the aston it self is removed, the Today logo with LIVE above it will remain on screen and the clock would fade to it's normal mode (see below)

DOG. The clock would have some colour, this is so bright backgrounds would not make the clock invisible.

The normal headlines graphics. would animate on like the news 24 astons.

The Business graphic. The orange sun shows that the graphic has appeared on screen already. The blue means that it still has to appear. It would animte with the name and figure coming in from the left of the box it is in, and fade on. The arrow, would spin on in the place it is in. The ticker would come on, and fade of just before the end of the update. These graphics are only for the brief update and would not be used for the long update with whoever at the stock exchange.

Regional news sting. This would fade from the studio-to this- to the regional logo. The opt-out (on the hour) would be from the local news studio, into the main headline video into image 1 above. At the half hour, it would be a short version of the titles, and into the presenters who will say "and at *:30, we go over to the news desk for a summery with *****"

I like them apart from the Regional News one, just looks a bit flowery

Agree - too many colours clashing - stick to one colour scheme, blue or orange.

The money graphic is far too busy

Tone down the "sun" gradiented circle thingy, it takes over the screen. On screen graphics should not distract from the actual picture.

Try using a lighter or smaller font

I don't like the clouds idea - too similar to the old Breakfast News.

Also I agree - choose 1 colour scheme.

The Regional news looks like something from Austin Powers!

Another choice for the opening. This would, IMO, work betetr for returning from the regional news. This shot then goes into the following:

this is the shot with both presenters in shot. there would be no shot going straight into the presenters at the front of the desk, i rather a sideways approach! Bill & Sian will remain on the programe BTW!!

I like it, but not so sure about the backdrop. I think a backdrop of London or the newsroom would look nicer. But I like the layout of the set though.

well i have changed the backdrop to one of the City Of London, for the main shot, and ot Canary Wharf for Moira's desk.

The small studio beside the main studio, the screen at the back may be used at the start of the programme and zoom through the gap.

The small studio, for the business & sport. This is optional, the money & sport doesnt have to be done from here, but i think it is better. In this example for business news, the screen with the london backdrop would change to the graphics.
