Not long to go now, The Simpsons are coming to Channel 4 on Friday at 9:00pm. I don't know the name of the episodes but these are the two

21:00: Homer stages a revolt against moves to give Springfield a new telephone dialling code, splitting the town down the middle. Featuring the voices of the Who

21:30: Angry dolphins attack Springfield on Hallowe'en, and a dead Homer finds himself having to perform one good deed to get into Heaven

There is also two other programmes:

22:00: The World According To The Simpsons
A celebration of the iconic animated comedy series to herald its arrival on Channel 4, exploring its place in the cultural history of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. With contributions from Eddie Izzard and Tamsin Greig

23:05: The Simpsons Quiz Show
Jamie Theakston hosts a special quiz tournament, featuring Simpsons fanatics Ralf Little, Sara Cox, Richard Bacon, Krishnan Guru-Murthy and Nick Frost.

Can't wait!!!

But the only letdown is that we may never see The Simpsons without commercials again. Sad But of course, this was in the forum, that more FOX shows are coming to the BBC, including my favourite: Family Guy!

I heard about the BBC getting the rights to show American Dad and Family Guy's next two seasons when they start next year, and I'm devestated.
If you think FOX/Sky One butcher Family Guy to the extreme, just wait til we see what the BBC comes up with.
Quite simply, Family Guy is destroyed when watching it on TV. They might as well go straight-to-DVD - it's what the fans really want Smile

Give us some examples of what is cut from the programme.

I can't confirm any individual lines, but there is a lot of controversial lines regarding a number of issues, eg. racism, paedophilia, and disability that were cut from the show. If you trawl through some of the quotes sites on the web you could probably guess what some of them are.
Not to mention of course the completely banned episode 'When You Wish Upon a Weinstein' which was only seen on DVD.

i think sticking it on at 9 is bad scheduling, why not at 6? forget the reality programmes, they can go on later, the simpsons is what we really want, and it IS still a family show after all!

The classic episodes will be on weekdays at 6pm though. The idea is that the newest episodes will be shown in primetime.

I don't think the BBC will treat it that badly, they didn't with The Simpsons, Sky 1 edited out loads of stuff which the BBC didn't, a prime example of this is the episode where Homer and Abe go on the road to sell their 'sex tonic', Sky butchered this episode to death, where as the BBC showed it in full. BBC2 also showed an episode called The Cartridge Family for the first time ever on UK TV as Sky didn't even bother to show it at all! (As the episode's main plot revolves around Homer getting a gun!) I think the BBC have treated The Simpsons very well, the only episode they didn't show was The City of New York Versus Homer Simpson. (which is a classic IMO)

Be glad Family Guy will be on the BBC, as they won't show it at 3am like Channel 4, they'll give it a good slot, if ratings slide they'll probably show it anyway. We all know The Simpsons will be treated well on Channel 4 as it has proved popular on BBC2 and on Sky 1, but I wish they'd listen with Futurama, originally at 6pm, it has been moved all over the place, with C4 showing new episodes as early as 7.00am and as late as 3.00am!

This site has a pretty complete guide to everything that Sky cut.

I think that the SImpsons will be the new friends. I think they will play it to death, even more than Sky One even.

Not that it matters to me of course, as I love the Simpsons. But I think they can and most likely will over-do it!
