Looks like the Ryder Cup will be using the newer style, animated Sky Sports graphics this weekend. Up till now, they've been using the older style on all their golf productions.

I think NBC are doing the main host coverage, but Sky usually get to use their own graphics. I think Sky will have quite a few of their own cameras too. I'm pretty sure everything will be in 4:3 this year though.

Does anyone have any more details on how this years event will be covered? I think I've read somewhere that It will be interactive again.

any chance of pictures, and video of Sky Sport's coverage when it begins.

Not from me I'm afraid. No capture card, although I was thinking of getting one. Perhaps I'll nip to PC World this weekend.

Today is just the opening ceremony, so no fancy scorecards yet. But the name straps have that streak of light on them, like on Sky's football coverage, running from left to right. All in white so far, with a revolving Ryder Cup trophy.

One of the interactive screens has the American coverage from USA Network.

Looking at the multi-feed, the US coverage seems completely different to the Sky Sports feed. Have Sky taken loads of cameras out there, or are some shots being shared?

From what I've seen, there seems to be both USA and Sky Sports cameras at each hole.

Looks like Sky Sports have access to all the host broadcasters cameras and have taken their own team and gallery, nice astons and nice variation, I really love these new Sky Sports graphics, they animate on and off beautifully!

AGGGHHHH!!! If one more bloody american spectator shouts "GET IN THE HOLE" as soon as the putt is played I will go over there and punch their lights out! And I'm not a violent man! Wink

It's the most stupid pointless shout, and very annoying.

Looks like USA Network are sharing coverage as they had coverage from NBC on the interactive option today.

It's very likely the Sky pictures are also been used by other european providers too!

Sidenote: I never realised that you can have up to 3 US broadcasters at a sporting event in America - take baseball for example. Say Oakland play the Yankees - you'd have a Home affiliate (eg Fox Bay Area), an Away affiliate (YES Network) and a National cable channel (ESPN) all carrying the same game! And several radio stations too no doubt.

Is the USA Network a cable channel?

Same format as other major golf tournaments I think...

1st Day Play and Opening Ceremony - USA Network (Golf Channel also has opening ceremony)
2nd and Final Days Play - NBC
Closing Ceremony - The Golf Channel

In other golf tournaments such as the Masters:

1st and 2nd Days Play - USA Network
3rd and 4th Days Play - CBS

Sky Sports have made excellent use of their red, white and blue graphics this weekend.

They are so clean and simple, and animate beautifully.

If you've had a look at the NBC coverage on interactive, you will see their graphics look messy and complicated in comparison.
