This Autumn sees the beginning of a brand-new gripping and pacey, supernatural drama series on ITV1Wales.

Young Welsh actors are given the opportunity to shine in this exciting new drama series that features the very best of Wales’ burgeoning home-grown talent.

Sexy characters, a fascinating story and a plot with relentless twists and turns, CHOSEN is sure to fire the imagination and to hold you in its grasp from the very beginning.

Drawn to a Dublin apartment, seven unsuspecting housemates venture on a journey that summons a few ghosts from the past – their ancestors’ past.

What is their connection? And how have a group of twenty-something strangers ended up living a very real nightmare in a very surreal situation?

As the extraordinary gradually becomes reality, the seven housemates discover that they are all descendants of an expedition that left for the South Pole in the late nineteenth century. Searching for the elixir of eternal youth, the crew were sacrificed so that three greedy and needy individuals – businessman, Henry Richardson; biologist, James Connolly and his great love, Miriam - could benefit from its properties.

Over a hundred years later, an insatiable hunger for power has completely possessed Richardson and he’s determined to claim the Mayan statue imperative to the ceremony that gave him everlasting life, all for himself.

Where is that statue? And are the young housemates ready for what Richardson and the statue have in store?

The seven CHOSEN are Conor Brennan, frustrated, pedantic and insecure yet ultimately heroic electrician; Rachel Sullivan, a privileged student rebelling against her upper class parents; Rhiannon Morgan, a spiritual, sexy and creative advertising exec; aspiring actress Suzie – enigmatic and unpredictable; conman and charmer, David Glennister, determined to conceal his past; Shaun Kennedy a self-confessed, timid American computer-geek and Salim, an ambitious lawyer, determined and explosive.

A Boomerang production for ITV Wales and Ireland’s RTE, the cast features the very best of young Irish and Welsh new talent.

Welsh actors Liz Armon-Lloyd, who’s appeared in Nuts+Bolts and Pobol y Cwm; Trystan Gravelle, a recent RADA graduate who’s currently appearing in the RSC’s production of Romeo and Juliet and Gareth Pierce, another up-and-coming Welsh talent, are among the cast.

This is an exciting production, featuring a brilliant young cast, creating a vibrant, original drama.

“Boomerang is a company with a youthful outlook looking to move into drama,” says producer, Dafydd Felix Richards. “This whole project sits very comfortably with our company profile. It’s a challenging, fast-moving drama which fits in with what we’re best-known for up to now in the fields of entertainment and extreme sports.”

Peter Edwards, ITV Wales Head of Drama and ITV Wales executive producer of CHOSEN, said, “This is an opportunity for us to be daring and act with other European broadcasters. Here we have a series which appeals to an audience who want something new and exciting, thrilling and funny – wherever those people live.”

CHOSEN is a Boomerang production for ITV1 Wales and RTE. The co-producers are ITV Wales, RTE and Derwen with additional funding from MEDIA, a European Union organisation. It is based on an original series by Danish TV channel, DR and will also be screened in Denmark.

The writers are Declan Jones and Toby Rushton, directors, Philip John and Conor Morrissey, the producer is Dafydd Felix Richards and executive producers, Mary Callery for RTE and Peter Edwards for ITV Wales.

No idea what time they intend to show this series. An evening slot would be good.

I do know that there will be 13 episodes.

Sounds promising - it be good also if ITV gave these programmes a national airing on their digital channels - if not ITV1 itself.
