It simply proves the total lack of empathy between script writer and viewer, doesn't it?

They take the ONE character who's loved by ALL the viewers and has probably appeared in more episodes since the start of the series than ANYBODY else, and kill him off for no reason at all and no gain to the storyline.

I think your use of "tragedy" is probably one of the greatest understatements since TV Forum was first introduced.

Not worth a new thread so I'll drop this in here:

From Digital Spy:

Quote:
Eastenders producers plan to spice up the 'dull' Ferreira family by moving a hooker into their home, The Sun has revealed today.

Jemma Walker will re-appear as Sasha but this time around is taken in by Adi (Ameet Chana), and soon, all the Ferreira men take a shine to her and start to get close.

Producers have been criticised for the family's 'dull' story lines, but now hope that they will spice things up with Sasha's (Jemma Walker's) return.

An insider said: "Sasha will be the object of desire for the Ferreira men."

Eastenders viewers will see the spicy storyline and the re-appearance of Sahsa in August.

If Eastenders continue to do crap storylines like that then I really hope Emmerdale becomes no.2 soap in the UK because they totally deserve it.

Another enthralling episode of EE tonight Rolling Eyes Anyone feel slightly cheated by not seeing the funeral though? Somehow Alfie acting as narrator to a bunch of people in the pub about it just didn't seem right. And the comedy alternative to all the doom and gloom of the death was...war hero Jack's funeral preparations (with Sonia's rousing speech to the deligates...I mean, drinkers) and Ian having a blanket bath.

And just how did Lyn manage to get her suitcase down the stairs?!

Coronation Street was, on the other hand, not up to it's usual standard, but still great viewing. Even though it would be great to see some old cahracters back in the Square, I feel that if they relied on old charcters, they wouldn't get anywhere, Coronation Street aren't bringing back Richard Hillman back from the grave, bevause they can come up with brilliant stories!

Tonight's episode was written with no continuity whatsoever to any previous episodes, which is the MAJOR problem the series has at present.

They need a script editor who's given enough time to read a script and see exactly how it fits with all the previous episodes.

Glaring errors pop up in EVERY episode.

So, tonight, Lyn, who's very upset at just loosing a baby, is going off to stay with Auntie Whatshername, where the HEAVILY PREGNANT Little Mo is ALSO supposed to be staying. Oh, yes, like hell! That's the LAST PLACE ON EARTH Lyn would go in real life.

Also, some useless social worker gives a box of that old bloke's belongings to Martin and Sonia tonight. What happened to the weeks it takes to advertise in the local press for his next of kin? Conveniently forgotton, one can only assume.

It's these blatent continuity errors which are making the whole thing so TOTALLY unbelievable at the moment.

Get a REGULAR script writer and a REGULAR script editor and let them stick to the job for God's sake.

Didn't see it tonight Nicholas, but you have summed up just about every episode for the past 12 months.

I was beginning to wonder if they were splitting shifts between writing teams at the moment because, as well as the observations you have made, I've also noticed the same lines being said episode after episiode. I mean, I realise the logistics of filming 4 episodes a week out of sequence must be difficult, but surely the actors must notice their characters are going round and round in circles.

A consistent overview of each week's output is seriously lacking.

I have a friend who's a freelance cameraman who works regularly on Eastenders at Elstree and he says it's a standing joke among the cast who snigger when they get their scripts (remember... no time for rehearsals these days) and cringe at some of the (a) rediculous storylines and (b) naff lines that they're expected to utter in front of the camera. I think the fact that few of them take it seriously any more is evident on the screens.

What I wanna know is how does the likes of PHIL MITCHELL and KEVIN WEBSTER make any money from their garage "businesses"? They never have much work on and they're always in the pub at lunchtimes and early in the evenings (just like Mike Baldwin is).

I think that very few of the writers have ever had to run a proper business!!

Maybe they could get out this mess by making the whole thing turn out to be a dream.

That's it! Angie will appear out of the shower - and the last 15 years will have been a dream!
