Oh for the love of the wee man!

Yet AGAIN the writers and producers are heaping more Kat and Alfie tripe on us tonight.

"Alfie I love you so much... we can make it right again", says Kat

Hasn't she been saying this for about 6 weeks now? Are these writers so stoned they can't remember that we keep seeing the same scenes over and over?

And as I type, Andy ('eahh... it's businessss') has just walked upstairs in the Vic for another go-nowhere scene with Alfie.

It just gets better. The god-awful Ferrerias have (for the lack of any better story) just burst out of the toilets in the Vic dressed in sombreros and ponchos. [EDIT: Actually they are Spanish outfits]

Remarkable how they get hold of these costumes so easily. It's just like that '70s' night they had a month or so ago.

Anyone would think they have a costume warehouse at Elstree at their disposal...

How convenient! A towel, in the cupboard of The Angine's Den office. Of all the places to keep a towel! Oh well Rolling Eyes

Finally, what is the deal with this storyline? (scroll down)

Arrow Den's mistress is revealed as being Kate

Absolutely ridiculous, and given that one of those characters was supposed to become involved with another character, as still seen on screen, to me it's such a cop out.

Ugh. And there it was at the end.

Not to mention the sheer dreadfulness (if such a word exists) of that Spencer's acting. How long was he with Kelly? A week?

Where is the comedy in this programme? I mean, the Ferrieras wishing Kareena off with Spanish costumes was hardly humourous.

As for the Andy and Alfie situation - Why didn't Alfie reach to punch Andy at least...jeez.

Now, Den and Kate? That is ridiculous. It might as well of been Dot for all we knew Rolling Eyes Ooh I say

I hope this week's shenanigans at the Market celebrations will be an improvement on recent weeks. Of course, it's all a ploy to bring Alfie and Kat back together and make Dennis Junior the hero of the day, probably wearing a tight top to give his chest a nice profile...

Is Louise Berridge just making up storylines to appeal to the Shane Richie/Nigel Harman fan club these days? Neither of them are all that attractive, neither of them are the greatest actors, and neither of them can carry EastEnders.

Do you think Louise Berridge has some grand plan of bringing EastEnders to its lowest of low points, before reviving it with some big comeback? Because at the moment it seems to be worse than ever. Today's episode was pretty awful. Does EastEnders have to have this thing of "plugging" an atrocity for a whole episode (or in some cases, more)? It makes the whole thing extremely predictable, and you just know it's only going to happen at the very end. The ending was the worst part though - that Queen Vic shot was so awkward - Den's "not knowing where to look" look summed it up really.

Nicely put Laughing

The stunt itself was pretty impressive, but I wouldn't have expected less from the effects people.

The show was let down by the hacky dialogue throughout. Garry and Lynn's happy-happy baby stuff was painful. Really obvious that she would be the one to be injured/killed in the accident. I do realise that they were attempting to create pathos and tragedy by illustrating how everything was "going right" for the two, but it was painted in such broad and lazy brushstrokes it looked like a first year drama student's work.

Kat and Spencer's entire interaction was based upon the tired old, "What's the matter - But before you tell me I'm going to tell you what I think the matter is..."; then babbling non-stop while the other can't get the all-important words out their mouth.

Compare and contrast with BBC Scotland's River City (Digital 941), where characters have been known to shout, "SHUT UP AND LISTEN!". Scenes never drag on in this drip-drip fashion.

But as it has been said in this thread, Eatenders have 2 hours to churn out a week, River City has only one.

And its all the better for it.

Well yes but they talk all funny and it takes twice as long to understand. Especially that one, with the hair. You know.

Spencer cannot act -- he needs telling this. He is also extremely unconvincing [I'll just leave that there].

It is staggering how much Coronation Street really has pulled away from Eastenders in terms of enjoyability and believability. Eastenders tonight was just *painfully* contrived, and don't these people have jobs today?

The number of grown men queuing up for candy floss was alarming.

The way Eastenders will revive itself will be to bring in/back believable characters. The Ferreira's shouldn't do comedy - they are not funny. Two teenagers "going out" for a week and having a heartbreaking separation - we do not care. The Alfie and Kat show - it's getting dull. Juley, Gus's brother - how irritating. Pauline and Dot not getting on - boring (even though Dot is a fab character). Martin and Sonia getting married - dull. Sam - annoying, Andy - unconvincing, Spencer - can't act. Jeez, the show really is terrible. Where are the Cindy's, Carol's, Barry's, Sanjay and Gita's, Ricky and Bianca's, Pat and Frank's??
