Just watching OFAH, and one of the characters says "Some b******s nicked me bike" - The word in asterisk's was bleeped out, so I checked on the internet and found that the word was "*******"... Now, why was this bleeped out? Surely the BBC don't consider this to be in their strong language list - after all, I've heard the s-word going out in a film in the middle of the day once... Unless the word happened to be bleeped out from when the episode originally aired (they probably had a different language policy then)

Very interesting, though!

It's funny because every time I've seen this episode before that word hasn't been bleeped. In fact, I saw BBC1 show an episode last year around 5PM where they left in the line "either Raquel's pregnant, or Del's pissed".

If you've seen Rodney Come home, I remember there's a line where Rodney deleted something on a computer and he says

'Shiiiiiiiit'

To Hull and Back also has Del saying: 'Bullshlt of the yard'

I have that on DVD and thats a PG

OFAH is allowed to have mild swearing. It's what endears us all to Del and Rodders! Smile

That's actually the Jolly Boy's outing.

That was it.

It's even stranger when you consider exactly the same word was left in at a later point in this evening's episode, as well as Rodney's line towards the end 'yes, p*** off'. Obviously whoever checked through it didn't do a very good job. Laughing

I think bulls*** is considered slightly a bit less offensive than s*** alone.

The b-word was in the episode twice, and it was bleeped twice. Rodney saying the p-word was left uncut later on in the episode.

I'm sure it went out clear the second time, said by Cassandra, as I remember thinking to myself at the time 'huh?'. Anyone else remember, or am I starting to crack up from too many chocolate biscuits? Laughing

Funnily though, a bit of searching turns up that Ofcom (or rather one of their predecessors) has had a complaint about the exact same thing before; http://www.ofcom.org.uk/bulletins/prog_cb/bsc_bullet_fin/?a=87101 - Seems they decided p*** off was acceptable.
