I wondered why we got full titles at 11.30, and the last half-hour is now being repeated.

There was no business, snow report or weather, was there?

Why no repeat of the main late news tonight?

Yes, it would be good for them to have a paper reviewer but then, N24 and Sky pretty much have that covered (and George Jones needs a rest!).

It would be good if they did do a full review, but not at the same time as Sky's or N24's.

Wait a minute... more mocks from Martin on Page 1 of this board?

Or is it a replica?

I think we should be told.

I've saved it to disc actually so I suppose its not bad.

So who's doing the overnights then? Rachel McTavish? If so, is she the new overnight presenter with Owen Thomas?

I made it myself, and as it is not really a mock, more as a gift to all those who like it, I think it is right to put it in both forums.

Tonight we had a PMQs repeat 2300-2330, then a full top of the hour title sequence at 2330 with Joyce (but no business or weather) which is now being repeated from 0000.

Recently the ITV1 late news has been repeated back-to-back 0000-0100.

The overnight person (Rachel so far this week) doesn't usually appear until 0100 with a 5-minute summary.

Don't go rolling your eyes at me young man. You didn't even use my name when quoting my hilarious 'Private Eye' style comment. I demand my moment.

Sounds like an Oscar speech I laughed at once.

Only once when watching ITVNC over the past two days only once have I not seen them in the CSO studio. I understand for now before ITV1 News, but what is the reason? Techincal problems? Or do they only have the budget for 1 hour of 'theatre of news' a day? Razz

EDIT: Fixed non-sensical sentence..

I'm guessing Technical problems, I know the NC have to be out of studio 45 minutes before every major programme, so that being 11.45am, 5.45pm, 9.45pm so they can rehearse.

Though to be honest it does puzzle me.

Presumably the more reports that the 1830 and 2230 do from "The Theatre of News" the more rehearsal is required. All those remote camera moves, and presenters pointing at random bits of green, tied in with complex graphics animates etc. will require some rehearsal (and possibly some recording... Some of the hands have had that "pre-recorded" feel...) That said 1600-1830 is quite a lot of rehearsal - if they are ready to rehearse an item 2.5 hours early is it news, or history by the time it goes out at 1830?

(The BBC Six O'Clock News seldom get their studio before 1700 for rehearsal and recording - as Hardtalk are in there...)

Last week's press release about the relaunch of ITV News is now on itv.com

You can read the whole Word document here

This is what it has to say about the ITV News Channel:
ITV press release posted:
The ITV News Channel will also benefit from added investment which will result in more staff for the channel, whose audience has grown by a third in the past 12 months.

David Mannion, Editor-in-Chief of ITV News, said the channel would be moving away from rolling news bulletins to concentrate on more live items, interviews and breaking news presented by anchors in regular slots.

“We will have more resources enabling us to make sweeping changes which will allow us to be more creative and inventive to really engage viewers,” he explained. “I’m confident that the News Channel really will come of age in 2004.”

What is, the new one ? The new studio was built in the ITN VR studio wasn't it, and the old one was used right up until the night before the relaunch. Did they move the whole set into the old ITV News studio overnight ?
