I have visions of a few months back around the Sky Boardroom table.
"So chaps, this new channel from our parent company Fox is due to launch soon, and they have asked for a space at the front of the EPG so it can sit alongside the main channels."
"But that ain't allowed, they will have to go right up to the end of the 200's where all the dross lives"
"Fox won't like that one bit......."
"Well, here's an idea, why don't we move the Biography Channel down to 286 as it's sorta entertainment, and popular. Then we can shove Fox next to it on 289. Sure it'll piss the History Channel network off a little, but we can do what we like with placements on the EPG and this way we'll keep our parent network sweet."
"Agreed. Let's go down the Dog and Duck for a pint of mild and a hotpot"
"Aye!"
or so on......
Just seems a bit too convenient for Sky to move Biography right close to FX........... My 2p!

No, I couldn't, because that was never my point in the first place.
News Corp is, indeed, the largest single shareholder at 36%. However, if the other 64% of shareholders got together to vote against a News Corp proposal, it would be defeated.
The definition of a majority shareholder is one who cannot be defeated, thus a 51% holding is required to put an individual or company in that position.

Can you name a single person/company who owns a bigger share of BSkyB than News Corp?

[quote="Barney Boo"]Can someone point out to me the purpose of FX UK, when effectively Sky One is a Fox channel anyway. Isn't selling rights to Sky One really just bureaucracy?[/quote}
Sky also buy programming from UPN, The WB, NBC, and ABC. Not just fox.
