I wonder if that second larger monitor had BBC News on it and it was removed so people can’t say “but Boris chooses to watch BBC coverage of big events” when the government next lays into the corporation?

Why would BBC keep that horrible red banner and white flipper on screen through the whole thing? Seems a bit unnecessary considering such an event. Especially as it was billed as a separate programme and it was pretty obvious what was being shown!
I watched it on CNN and the graphics were pretty minimal.

Days like today is one benefit of ITV not having a news channel.

As a result they had to put on a bespoke programme, meanwhile BBC One just simulcast BBC World News complete with breaking news graphics throughout


I don’t understand why the ceremony would need a "Breaking News" banner and flipper, even on the news channels, let alone BBC One??
It was a scheduled event, it wasn't a news story "breaking" - it was expected, and indeed a special pre-planned programme!
The BBC red banner graphics are so big in the first place, even when used for actual breaking news!
Will they put the big red "breaking news" graphics and flipper all over the Queen's funeral or another big event? Rolling Eyes

SkyNews is fixated on Trump. The man is gone. They are still playing clips of his speech whilst there are still other pomp and circumstance events that are happening. And they continue to talk about him ignoring the scenes unfolding. They continually, boring talk about the security on the streets hour after hour. One reporter on the street continues to call it a "WAR ZONE". Geez. Really dude. Doing an irrelevant Vox Pox with celebratory music playing in the background. Truly a war zone. Rolling Eyes . AT the same time they are missing the salute happening at the Arlington National Cemetery. Messy messy coverage. It shows the lack of depth of their analysts/correspondents....(Ahem....Omarossa) as the previous administration is all they are talking about it. Nothing about the traditions or history of anything. Adam Boulton has been awful all day. Shocking.

The top screen is way too high, unless the room is 40 ft long (which it might be!)

The virtual inaugural parade isn’t really working. CBSN and PBS are showing it online but few others seem to be covering it. CNN showed about 3 minutes of it and then cut away.
