There was a curved desk with ITV blocks graphics on it sitting on a Worden plinth like in the London studio. Looked very nice.

Whilst it is obviously in a temporary desk the way it fits with ITVs brand so much makes me wonder how often we'll be seeing the desk and platform in Washington after the inauguration and also why this or something similar wasn't used for election night. It's much more visually pleasing than the glowing boxes and barstools.

The way it fits with ITVs brand so much makes me wonder how permanent it is and whether we'll see it again after inauguration day.

Considering how cheap temporary looking it looks I doubt it. It’s just a simple way of getting some ITV News branding in where there wouldn’t otherwise be anyway, not a problem in their studio.

The set up as a whole does a look a lot better than what they did for the election though and is a satisfactory short term solution.

Much, much better than the actual election studio itself. Also think it might be because it has got even colder in DC since November (as what usually happens in Winter) and sticking the presenters on that same balcony again would be freezing

I think it's still a balcony. You can really hear the wind.

There is a fair amount of background noise. Very nice backdrop though.

In the first few seconds of this drone footage you can clearly see some of the broadcast sites that are situated in rooftops around DC. The footage only shows those near the White House. You can see them in some Google Earth images.

Regarding the ITV set up. Those desks are quite cheap to acquire and customise. ESPN and other sports broadcasters use them frequently across the US and Canada on the sidelines of many sporting events. College football games, etc. Because the front graphics panel can be switched out and the entire thing rolled up and the structure is usually collapsible into travel cases. Nice they decided to upgrade from the odd set up they used for the election. Clearly its this big because of the coronavirus. BUT WHY OH WHY!!!! did the use a black/charcoal gray design?! That is so odd. ITV News has a decent colour palette. That was an awful decision frankly IMO. Yes it will be used in the daylight as thats when the actual inauguration occurs. But it looks....sinister to me all that black and gray. Not inviting. Especially when they had so much to work with. I notice they didnt incorporate actual ITV logos on the desk probably for some reason. But they could have had something that was added to the desk or a removable ITV news floor graphic in front of the desk when they are using for ITV broadcasts. They also but branding on the columns as well because you can clearly see its a tent because of the support straps in the shot. (EKKK). But when the sky turns dark it all fades out..

That’s definitely the roof at the NBC News bureau.

THAT was NAT, the Inauguration is at 11am Washington Time, what is the problem? ITV News has very little budget, it's dusk when it went to air, without a fully working studio what would you expect?

Let's see if someone erects some lighting for us this evening?
