I've had a go at designing a new set for BBC News 24, which is based loosely on the national news set, but allows for more movement of presenters, with different places for them to sit and stand. You'll have to excuse the newsroom backdrop, which doesn't look as good as it could, but I couldn't find a suitable image.

We'll start with a wide shot of the studio.

Each bullitin will start with the presenters sitting at the main news desk with the main news stories.

Because News 24 is meant to become more analytical, after the headlines, one presenter will then move over to this area of the studio, where they will analyse the main stories. There is a small 'South Today' style desk where the presenter will stand against. The small screens on the glass will be used to illustrate stories.

Interviews with studio guests will now be held on a bench along one side of the studio, where there is also a big screen which will be used for interviewing people who are not in the studio, and also for illustrating stories. The small screens will display the News 24 logo at all times.

I'd be pleased to hear your comments.

LoveTV!!
I am not to sure of that wooden floor or the backgroud, it seems to be too white and see through.

BUT... I like the sofa area, for interviews.

OVERALL: Good try, it is a Confused face!

As long as the background was real, and not some fake newsroom I think that it looks very good. To be honest I think it would be better suited to the BBC1 national news, because a 24 hour news channel feels more newslike, to me, coming from the centre of the newsroom. I like the idea of the presenters sitting in different places for different things on the BBC1 national news.

The set is meant to be in the newsroom, with the window at the back looking into the newsroom, either at the part which you used to see through the back of the old set, or if the set was built 180 degrees to the last one, then you could look out over the news centre atrium, as you did in the second flags era set. I'll have a go at doing a set where you can see the news room at bit more.
