If I was them, I'd try and get it on Freeview before Christmas, as with a good marketing push, you'll likely to get some decent numbers from the Christmas audience.
The only other (extremely minor) clue that they might be bringing another channel over to Freeview was the decision to put Yesterday+1 on 74, rather than 73. That wouldn't make much sense unless they were planning on doing a swap between Dave Ja Vu and [X] in the short-term.
GOLD is really their prime channel, it is the oldest of the UKTV channels, launched in 1992, so having it available on as many platforms as possible makes sense. BBC Studios seem to be more keen on bringing their channels to larger audiences, than when they were in partnership with Scripps.
