Revision 9.7

3 new files this weekend. First of all, there are 2 new Tyne Tees Weather clips. Now that we're in to October, Topps Tiles have moved to using the Autumn film. The third file contains the current opening titles to North West Tonight.

I have also altered the download script in a way which will hopefully work better. Sadly it does now mean every link must be left-clicked on, rather than right clicking. Sad

Revision 9.8

3 new files again this weekend, all from Channel 5. There's the 2003 opening titles from Family Affairs and Home and Away in the respective British and Australian soap sections, as well as the new Five News titles introduced on Monday. Smile

Revision 10

It's taken me long enough to remember to post this, but never mind. After what seems like forever, Revision 10 of TV Whirl finally went online on Saturday. There's 50 new files this time round as follows..

Adverts - 13 New Files
TV Logos - 18 New files - 9 For ITV1
3 for the ITV News Channel
3 for BBC2
3 for BBC1
News - 3 New files - BBC1's short bulletin titles, and the 2003 opening/closing sequences from Granada Reports
Weather - 2 New files - For Granada Weather in 2003
Childrens - 3 New Files - Jamie and the Magic Torch, and the last SMTV titles
Other - 1 new file - The Paul Daniels show (No, I don't remember him either. Wink )
Comedy - 4 new files
Sport - A new section to the site with some sport-based idents, and opening titles. (6 files to start)

Although visually the site looks the same, I have done some major tweaking with the HTML/CSS code in the background to make it fully standards compliant. It still doesn't work properly in Mac IE (so I can now blame the browsers for not implementing the W3C spec correctly! Razz) however at least it's a little better than before; the pages do actually show up!

Revision 10.2

Not wanting to be last off the mark for a change, Revision 10.2 has gone online today (Monday), with 8 files covering parts of the new Look ITV News, with titles from the Evening News and News Channel, as well as some Granada-based regional coverage.

Revision 10.3

The new Granada Reports opening titles have now been added to the site, complete with LNN Transmission mistake first (At least Ashley had his TV Card warmed up in time on Monday, unlike me Embarassed ).

7 files covering the first day of the 2003 Calendar rebrand have also now been added. Yep, I'm late as usual there. Laughing

Revision 10.7 - 3 years old today

It's ages since I actually remembered to post in this thread, but I have still been updating (hence the big jump in revision numbers).

Anyway, I decided to mention today's update as it's pretty important one. It's 3 years to the day since the site went online (I really ought to work out with Asa sometime which site went up first time-wise Wink)

As well as the usual update of 3 files (in the kids section), I've decided to have some fun with a...um... whole new rebrand of the site. Wink *cough* The hatemail is expected shortly. More info on this can be found in the blurb on the homepage.

Yay, glad to hear it. Smile It still doesn't work properly in Mac IE mind, but at least it now appears.

From what I gather with Safari, it is a recent update to Webcore that should have fixed things, rather than any change I've made. A friend of mine who happens to be a strong supporter of Omniweb couldn't get it to display either. As the site code checks out as compliant, he submitted a query to the developers, who reported back that it was indeed a problem with the Webcore engine, and that the information had been passed on. A few weeks later, an updated version of the rendering engine was displaying the page correctly. I'm presuming that has now filtered through to Safari too. Smile

*sigh* If only Microsoft were this efficient.

Well it was working in Safari, but turns out is wasn't working in Internet Explorer under Windows now. Embarassed No idea what exactly caused it (something to do with the workaround for IE's lack of PNG support), but it's fixed now.

Yet another reason for Windows people to use Mozilla; it works properly! Razz

Well, it's nearly 4 months since the last proper update, meaning this update itself about 2 months overdue, but Revision 11 of the site is *finally* online. There's 46 new files on the site as follows:-

Adverts - 13 New Files
TV Logos - 11 New files - 7 For ITV1
3 for BBC2
1 for Yorkshire Television
News - 1 New file - 2004 titles from the BBC1 National News
Weather - 3 New files - For Tyne Tees Weather in 2004
Childrens - 12 New Files
Other - 2 new files - Both from Sky One in the early 90s
Comedy - 2 new files - 2 point 4 Children and Harry Hill's TV Burp
Sport - 2 new files from Euro 2004

As well as that, I've also refreshed the design somewhat, which should really be complete with a namby-pamby press release about how it connects with people viewing the site, but I won't be doing that as I know it's all absolute rubbish. Razz

Anyway, enjoy...
