I do wonder whether Tecwen Whittock just thought he'd be helpful to an acquaintance, and that this was a spontaneous act rather than pre-arranged, which is why the whole thing comes across as bungled.
Hypothetically if they were to have their conviction overturned would ITV or Sony be forced to pay them the prize money? I’d imagine there would be some clause that they didn’t have to pay it out for any reason of their choosing.
Given that the second half of the play completely deconstructed the prosecution's arguments (and Celador's "accurate" description of events) perhaps Celador did not give their permission for this play to take place?
What is there to deconstruct? We've all seen the video and it's farcically obvious...
I wonder how many people who thought the same thing are now reconsidering...
What I don't get is the plan requires the cougher to 100% know the answer, and the player to be 100% confident they do. It's questionable enough if you'd have 100% confidence in your wife, never mind a supposed stranger.
If the theory really was the answers were being communicated into the studio then from what we saw in the drama that clearly wasn't proven.
One thing I remember from the 2003 screening is the "Major Fraud" documentry had the coughs turned up quite loud, but when they showed his appearance in isolation on ITV2 later in the evening, they were a lot quieter.
I think that is a common sense decision actually. Because it was clear she didn’t intend to choose that option. It was always her intention to go with A and it was just a slip of the tongue. It’s not the same as her giving her final answer and then realising she’d get it wrong once she’s gone orange.
However if it had been a civilian version she probably wouldn’t have been so lucky.
I wonder if Craig David's going to have a bit of a sales bounce as a result of this drama. Makes a difference to him only being remembered for the Bo Selecta impression
Didn't they say in the programme that there was an 18-minute stretch with no coughing? Is that referring to the first night? Because on the second night there's pretty much coughing on every question.
But it just goes to show you that these things could be a coincidence. If you re-watch Judith Keppel's win, she also reads out answers and there's coughing when she says the right one on several questions.

I'm guessing you missed his comeback/rehabilitation over the last few years then.

In exactly the same way juries in trials are show graphically close up photos of a murder scene - rather than ones taken from the roof of a house three doors away.
To prove your evidence, you have to highlight it - and that means amplifying it up until you can't ignore the facts.
