Great to see the site back and with some new clips. Couple of minor issues which is that the first time you play a clip it takes a long time to load (maybe my machine but not sure as I player, youtube, etc work fine) and some are a repeat of one that are on Youtube. Anyway really pleased and thank you for the return.

Just one question which for example take the Six O'Clock News section for the 80s there are pictures at the bottom of openings/closings etc and was wondering why they haven't been put on a video clips as well?

Brilliant to see it back. I've spent far too long on the clean 1994 YTV idents - never really thought much of them at the time but they've got a certain charm looking back. SPARK is really nicely done, and have they always had podcasts?!

Only issue for me is the video player - on the iPad the player controls disappear unless I've already hit the full screen mode and clips often stutter at the start so need to be rewound (not sure whether that's the player's fault or bandwidth). Native player would be great, but it's a minor quibble.

I just want to give them kudos for the focus on 50fps encoding. It really makes the 80s/early 90s CGI pop and some of them like the original Sky idents look good enough to eat.
London Lite and james-2001 gave kudos

A shame that the YTV clean idents are only 25fps (the off-air recordings are 50fps though), but I presume that's how they got them from their source.

Having had a browse round tonight still don't think the Central News theme of 1998 will ever be beaten - 22 years later it still looks and sounds great. Bloody Carlton!

Yes that is a great opening.

Also, Central News East 2001 with Marie and Llewela (the titles where their pictures come on screen with the map halfway through) is fantastic too.

Marie and Llewela were a great presenting duo, and good friends off screen too apparently.

They'll only have been made/broadcast at 25fps so you're not missing anything

Aah thanks AxG they look amazing some 20 plus years but I got to admit at the time I wasn’t really impressed as I knew there were making way better idents/presentation only a few miles down the M1, so never appreciated them at the time obviously the chevron and everything YTV is long gone Sad

The 1999 to 2002 page for Yorkshire has 16:9, clean, broadcast quality copies of the idents. I don't think I've ever seen these in 16:9 and certainly not in this quality since they were last broadcast. (The 16:9 filter is very handy, it's like it was added just for me)

I know they aren't the finest piece of TV design but it's very nostalgic seeing them again, even though they now seem so obviously b*stardised from the original unused versions.

Here in Granadaland, I don't ever remember seeing the first three on the row second from bottom on this page. CCTV, man painting a heart on the floor, and the construction one. Anyone remember them? I have no memory of them whatsoever.

Spent far too long on the Central clips tonight. Some 3-4 minute "breakdown" compilations which are just stunning. Also love the Granada "setting the standard" flags idents but don't remember them on screen. Always thought Granada was pretty average presentation wise but these were potentially as good as the BBC balloon idents, and a few years earlier too.

Were those only used before the news? With a standard blue stripe one at other times?
