Are we going to say this everytime someone does well on a gameshow? We don’t even know how good he is at quizzing from that one example and you are required to have a certain personality type.

Back in the day Jeremy Beadle had he lived long enough would have probably been suggested as a Chaser too, being one that was quite a smart cookie himself. That TV show he did for Channel 5 (Win Beadle's Money) was an impressive ratio of win to lose (Wiki suggests he lost only 8 times across 52 shows which may be a similar win/lose ratio to some of the other Chasers).

There's precedent, you know. The first Millionaire winner became an Egghead. This guy is officially the 6th best Millionaire contestant ever, since there's been five winners and he got 14 out of 15 questions right.

Well many people have won £500,000 on Millionaire, Keppel is an average quizzer at best and wouldn’t survive as a Chaser, she was on from beginning because she had a level notoriety needed to launch the show.
The point still stands that it’s not just quizing ability a chaser is chosen on. They have to have the right personality and I doubt he could carry the role. And what happens if someone with a personality wins a million the series after, do you have 7 Chasers? It would dilute the brand don’t you think?
Interesting that they seem to actively casting quizzers now. Makes a refreshing change from the casting imbeceles we've seen on quiz shows in the past, but perhaps a bit less interesting to watch people get to £16-64k with relative ease.
